Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twentieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."
SCHEDULE.

UNSURVEYED SECOND-CLASS LAND.
This block lies to the north of Small Run No. 10 and the University Reserve, Opaku, and extends to the Mataimoana Road on the east, the confiscation line on the north, and the Patea River on the west. The country, generally speaking, is rough, but the soil is of fair quality, well watered, and suitable for grazing purposes. On account of the difficulty in obtaining homestead-sites, which are only obtainable in a few places on the Patea and Whenuakura Rivers, the land is only suitable for selection in large areas. The timber is generally light, consisting of rata, tawa, hinau, and a little rimu, with the usual undergrowth. Access by the Maben Road, on the Patea River, and by the Whenuakura Valley Road, also from Waverley by the Mataimoana Road. The Whenuakura Valley Road is formed into a bridle-track to within four miles of the block, and the road leading to the Mataimoana Road is formed into a good bridle-track to within the same distance: from thence a good pack-track leads into the block.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.
JOHN McKENZIE,
Minister of Lands.
