All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 276 acres 2 roods 9 perches, more or less, being Sections 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, and 28 of Block XVI., Maniototo Survey District.
HUMMOCK, DUNBACK, AND BUDLE BLOCKS.
All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 37,191 acres 3 roods 34 perches, being known as Run 121 and 121A, Hummock Survey District; Run 121B and 121C, Dunback Survey District; Run 121D, Budle, Dunback, Hummock, and Hummockside Survey Districts; Run 121E, Budle and Dunback Survey Districts; Run 121F, Budle and Hummock Survey Districts; Runs 121G, 121H, and 121I, Budle Survey District; and Runs 121J and 121K, Hummock Survey District: the above total area including an area (unsectionised) of 420 acres in Dunback Survey District.
Given under the hand of the Honourable Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly-appointed Deputy in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by the one hundred and sixty-second section of "The Land Act, 1892," and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, do hereby proclaim and declare that the blocks of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for special settlement.
SCHEDULE.
RUAHINE BLOCK.
All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, situated in the Makaretu Survey District, bounded towards the north-west by Crown lands; towards the north-east by the Waipawa River; towards the south-east and south by Sections Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 21, Block I., Ruataniwha Survey District, and by the Tukituki River; and towards the south-west by Crown lands: and, excepting reserves for education, roads, and other purposes, containing a net area for selection of 2,400 acres.
NELSON BLOCK.
All that area in the Taranaki Land District, situated in Blocks VIII. and IX., Mimi Survey District, bounded towards the west by the Parininihi Forest Reserve; towards the north by the confiscation boundary-line; towards the east by the Tongapurutu River; and towards the south by a right line parallel to the confiscation line before mentioned: and, excepting reserves for education, roads, and other purposes, containing a net area for selection of 2,400 acres.
AUCKLAND No. 1 BLOCK.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks XI., XII., XV., and XVI., Waoku Survey District, bounded towards the north generally by the Whakatere Block, by a forest reserve, and by unadjudicated Native land; towards the east by a right line parallel to and at a distance of 30 chains in a westerly direction from the eastern boundary of Waoku Survey District; towards the south by part of the northern boundary of Blocks Nos. III. and IV., Waipoua Survey District; and towards the west by a right line running due north, at a distance of 60 chains in an easterly direction from Kowekaweka Trig. Station, to the Whakatere Block aforementioned: and, excepting reserves for education, roads, and other purposes, containing a net area for selection of 9,000 acres.
AVOCA BLOCK.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks I. and V., Maungaru Survey District, bounded towards the north by a right line running parallel to and at a distance of 100 chains in a southerly direction from the northern boundary of Block I., Maungaru Survey District; towards the east generally by the Maungaru Block, the Mangakirikiri Block, the Tangowahine River, and again by the Mangakirikiri Block; towards the south by the Omu Block; and towards the west generally by the Ounuwhao Block and a forest reserve to the line first-mentioned: and, excepting reserves for education, roads, and other purposes, containing a net area for selection of 3,650 acres.
GLADSTONE BLOCK.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in Blocks VII., VIII., XI., and XII., Manganui District, bounded on the north-west by the Waimarino Block; on the north-east by the Springfield Farm Homestead Block and the Waimarino Block; on the east by the Waimarino Block; on the south by the Mangaturuturu Stream; on the west by the North Island Trunk Railway line; on the south-east by Crown lands; and on the south-west by Marton Farm Homestead Block No. 4: and, excepting reserves for education, roads, and other purposes, containing a net area for selection of 8,500 acres.

WHEREAS by "The Civil Service Insurance Act, 1893" (hereinafter referred to as "the said Act"), it is provided that the Governor, by Order in Council, from time to time may, inter alia, make any regulations required for the due administration of the said Act, and for all matters in relation thereto: And whereas by the fourteenth section of the said Act it is provided that the Acts in force relating to the Government Life Insurance Department shall be deemed to authorise the Government Insurance Commissioner to enter into any contracts under those Acts that may be necessary to give effect to the said Act, with such provisions, variations, and modifications as may be necessary for that purpose; and regulations and tables may from time to time
