Shooting Season for Imported and Native Game, License- fee, &c., Rangitikei District.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and quail may be taken or killed in the County of Rangitikei from the 1st day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of ten shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be issued on the payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmasters at Marton, Bull's, Hunterville, and Turakina are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do further declare that native game, excepting tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe, may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned district from the twenty-third day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the 31st day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both days inclusive.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants, Californian quail, and hares may be taken or killed within the Wellington Acclimatisation District, consisting of the Counties of Hutt, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Horowhenua, Kiwitea, Oroua, and Manawatu, together with all town districts and boroughs therein, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Post-

master at Wellington, and the Postmasters at Palmerston North, Feilding, Sandon, Ashurst, Woodville, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Martinborough, Featherston, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Foxton, and Otaki are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do further declare that native game, excepting tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe, may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both days inclusive.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that hares and Californian quail may be taken or killed within the Otago District—being all that area in the Provincial District of Otago, bounded on the east and south by the ocean, from Shag Point to the mouth of the Mataura River; on the west, south-west, and south by the Mataura River and the Counties of Southland and Wallace; on the north-west by the ocean; and on the north, north-west; and north-east by the Counties of Westland and Waitaki: excepting therefrom the County of Lake—from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Dunedin is hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do further declare that native game, excepting wild geese, tui, huia, white heron, bittern, and crested grebe, may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, to the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, both days inclusive.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland, Nelson, Otago, and Southland.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland, Nelson, Otago, and Southland enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes specified in the second column of the said Schedule, and opposite the descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
