Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Taranaki, Nelson, Canterbury, and Southland.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section
of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land
Districts of Taranaki, Nelson, Canterbury, and Southland
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI.

All that parcel of land in the Taranaki Land District and
in the County of Stratford, containing 6,000 acres, more or
less, being parts of the Kaitieki, Mangaotuku, and Kaitangiwheu Blocks. Bounded towards the north by the Gatton
and Mangaehu Special Settlements; towards the east by
Native lands; towards the south by the Kaitangiwheu,
Moeawatea, and Whenuakura Special Settlements; and
towards the west by the Matemateaonga Block and Gatton
Special Settlement. For the growth and preservation of
timber.

NELSON.

All that parcel of land situated in the Mawheranui Survey
District, in the Land District of Nelson, containing 50 acres,
and bounded as follows: On the northward by Section 3,
Block II.; on the eastward by a public road along Blackball
Creek; on the southward by Crown land; and on the westward by the road to Blackball. For Courthouse and police
purposes.

CANTERBURY.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 16 acres 2 roods, more or less,
being Section 3036 in red, formerly parts of Reserves
1380, 1921, and 2431, Block VI., Rangiora Survey District,
and bounded as follows: On the northward by other portions of said reserves; on the eastward by a line parallel to,
and 300 links distant from, the centre line of railway; on
the southward by a road-line forming the northern boundary
of Sections 1684, 2674, and 4216; on the westward by a line
in continuation of the western boundary of Section 4216;
being a strip of land 200 links wide: be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan
deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch.
For plantation and river-protection purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 173 acres 3 roods 16
perches, more or less, being part of Rural Section 32004,
Blocks XIV., Rolleston, and II., Leeston, Survey Districts,
and bounded as follows: On the north-west by said Section
32004, 14141.8 links; on the north-east by a road-line,
1384.9 links; on the south-east by a road-line, 14883.2 links;
on the south-west by Section 31877, 1200 links: be all the
aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on
the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For plantation purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 14 acres 1 rood 18
perches, more or less, being part of Rural Section 27924,
Block IX., Rolleston Survey District, and bounded as follows:
On the north-west by a road-line, 3598.2 links; on the north-east by a road-line, 566.7 links; on the south-east by the
said Section 27924, 3598.6 links; on the south-west by Section 27717, 566.4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the
office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For plantation
purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 96 acres 2 roods 3 perches,
more or less, being Rural Section 27313, and part of
Rural Section 31460, Block XIII., Rolleston Survey District,
and bounded as follows: On the north-west by Sections
17814 and 17818, 8284.4 links; on the north-east by a road-line, 1293.3 links; on the south-east by the said Section
31460, 7802 links; on the south-west by a road-line, 1200
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the
same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the
Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For plantation purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 118 acres 2 roods 29
perches, more or less, being parts of Rural Sections 31459,
31461x, and 31461, Block XIV., Rolleston Survey District,
and bounded as follows: On the north-west by Sections
31461, 31461x, and 31459, along a line bearing 39Β° 10' 15",
10233.4 links; on the north-east by the southern boundary
of Reserve 1754 in red, 1200.4 links; on the south-east by
Sections 31459, 31461x, and 31461, by a line parallel to the
north-western boundary, 9746.6 links; on the south-west by
a road-line, 1306.9 links, the south-east corner being 7004.2
links along the road-line from the south-east corner of
Section 31461: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as
the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of
the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For plantation purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing by admeasurement 45 acres 3 roods 35 perches,
more or less, being part of Rural Section 31462, Block XIV.,
Rolleston Survey District, and bounded as follows: On the
north-west by the said Section 31462, 4107.3 links; on the
north-east by Reserve 1754 in red, 1228.2 links; on the
south-east by a road-line, 3554.3 links; on the south-west
by a road-line, 1450.5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited
in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For
plantation purposes.

SOUTHLAND.

All that parcel of land in the Southland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 1 acre 22 perches, more or
less, situated in Block IV., Winton District. Bounded
towards the north by a right line, being the production in
an easterly direction of the southern boundary-line of Section 4, 220 links; towards the south-east by a public road
forming the north-western boundary of Section 38, 1200
links; and towards the north-west by the public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 3, 1125 links: be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eighth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-four.

Polling-places for General Assembly Elections abolished
and appointed.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The Electoral Act, 1893," it is, among
other things, enacted that the Governor may from
time to time appoint, alter, and abolish polling-places for
each electoral district within the limits thereof, and that no
polling-place shall be appointed unless the Governor shall be
first satisfied that the place to be appointed is more convenient
than any other for at least twenty electors to record their
votes thereat:

Now, therefore, I, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby abolish the places mentioned in the
First Schedule hereto as polling-places for the electoral districts the names of which are therein specified, and appoint
the places mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto to be
polling-places for the electoral districts the names of which
are therein specified.
