THE following special orders, made by the Manganui Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following special order was made on Saturday, 6th January, 1894; and confirmed on Saturday, 10th February, 1894:—

“That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £250 raised under ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for the purpose of completing the formation and metalling on Flint Road East, a special rate of 1d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands: viz., Sections 5, 6, 7, Block I., Ngaire, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, 102, 103, 104, Block II., Ngaire; and Section 32, Block XIV., Huiroa Survey District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and shall be payable in two half-yearly instalments, on the 1st of January and the 1st of July in each year.”

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following special order was made on Saturday, 6th January, 1894; and confirmed on Saturday, 10th February, 1894:—

“That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £150 raised under ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for the purpose of building a bridge over the Rum-keg Stream on the Denbeigh Road, a special rate of ½d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands: viz., Sections 1 to 23, both inclusive, situated between the Manganui and Tepopo Streams, the Mountain Road, and Mountain Reserve, Manganui Survey District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and shall be payable in two half-yearly instalments, on the 1st January and the 1st July in each year.”

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards, Act, 1882.”

Results of Polls for Special Loans, Otaki Road Board, County of Horowhenua.

OTAKI ROAD BOARD.—“LOCAL BODIES’ LOANS ACT, 1886.”
—SPECIAL DISTRICT NO. 1.

NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the poll taken on the 26th instant, on the proposal to borrow £550 from the Colonial Treasurer, for the purpose of constructing Atkinson’s Road and the Otaki Township footpaths, within the Special District No. 1, is as follows:—Ratepayers on roll, 63; votes exercisable on roll, 69: Number of ratepayers who voted for proposal, 40; number of votes recorded in favour of proposal, 43.

As a majority of the number of ratepayers, having a majority of the number of votes exercisable, voted for the proposal, I hereby declare the same to be duly carried.

OTAKI ROAD BOARD.—“LOCAL BODIES’ LOANS ACT, 1886.”
—SPECIAL DISTRICT NO. 2.

NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the poll taken on the 24th instant, on the proposal to borrow £350 from the Colonial Treasurer, for the purpose of constructing the extension of the Ringawhate and the deviation of the Waitohu Valley Roads, within the Special District No. 2, is as follows:—Ratepayers on the roll, 5; votes exercisable on the roll, 9: Number of ratepayers who voted for proposal, 1; number of votes recorded in favour of proposal, 1.

As the above-mentioned number of votes recorded in favour of the loan—namely, 1—is less than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, I hereby declare the proposal to be rejected.

RESULTS OF POLLS FOR PROPOSED LOANS, FITZHERBERT ROAD DISTRICT, COUNTY OF OROUA.—FITZHERBERT ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of a poll taken at Mr. Herbert Andrewartha’s residence, Andrewartha’s Road, Fitzherbert, on Monday, the 29th January, 1894, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £400, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the construction of the portion of Andrewartha’s Road from the south-west boundary of Section 300 to the south-east boundary of Section 302, both sections being in Block XVI., Kairanga Survey District, in the Fitzherbert Road District:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 8, representing 19 votes: 7 ratepayers, representing 16 votes, voted in favour of; not any ratepayer voted against the proposal; and 1 ratepayer, representing 3 votes, was not recorded: majority of ratepayers in favour, 6; and majority of votes in favour, 13; and I therefore declare the same to be carried.

RESULT of a poll taken at Mr. Cornelius Byrne’s, Kahuterawa Road, Fitzherbert, on Friday, the 26th January, 1894, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £650, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the construction of the portion of the Kahuterawa Road from the northern corner of Section 332, Block VII., Arawaru Survey District, to the north-west boundary of Section 307, Block VII., Arawaru Survey District, in the Fitzherbert Road District:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 19, representing 20 votes: 11 ratepayers, representing 12 votes, voted in favour of the said loan; not any ratepayer voted against the loan; and 8 ratepayers, representing 8 votes, were not recorded: majority of ratepayers in favour, 3; and majority of votes in favour, 4; and I therefore declare the same to be carried.

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 15, representing 16 votes: 9 ratepayers, representing 10 votes, voted in favour of the said loan; 1 ratepayer, representing 1 vote, voted against the loan; and 5 ratepayers, representing 5 votes, were not recorded: majority of ratepayers in favour, 3; and majority of votes in favour, 4; and I therefore declare the same to be carried.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.—HANGAROA LOAN NO. 2.

At a poll of the ratepayers in the Hangaroa Special District No. 2, taken on the 31st January, 1894, upon a proposal by this Council to raise a loan of £900 for the purpose of constructing a road from Section No. 8, Block VIII., Hangaroa Survey District, to Section No. 2, Block VII., Hangaroa Survey District, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 4 persons, exercising 4 votes; number who did not vote, 1 person, holding 1 vote. Total number on the special roll, 5 persons, capable of exercising 5 votes. As a majority of the persons on the special roll exercised a majority of votes in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.
