Wirokino Road Board.

RESULT of poll for proposed loan of £1,000, for the purpose of constructing cart-bridge over the Ohau River and completing the Muhunoa East Road:—

I, John Davies, Chairman of the Wirokino Road Board, do hereby notify the result of the poll taken at Mr. Whaley's sawmill, Ohau, on Friday, the 3rd November, 1893, to be as follows:—

Number of ratepayers entitled to vote, 16; votes exercisable on special roll, 24: number of ratepayers who voted in favour, 11; number of votes exercised in favour, 18; votes not recorded, 6: majority of ratepayers in favour, 6; majority of votes in favour, 12.

I hereby declare that the proposal has been carried by a majority of ratepayers and more than one-half the exercisable number of votes, being the majority as by statute required.

COPY OF A SPECIAL ORDER BY THE WAIMATA ROAD BOARD, MADE AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON THE 3RD DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1893.

RESOLVED, that a special rate of 3d. in the pound be made upon Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, Whataupoko G, for a period of twenty-six years, commencing on the 10th April, 1894, and ending on the 9th April, 1920, for the purpose of providing interest upon a loan of £500, to be obtained under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of constructing the Matokitoki Road from Section 38, Hapara III., to Section 8, Whataupoko G. The rate to be due and payable in two instalments in each year, on the 1st day of June and 1st day of December respectively.

The common seal of the inhabitants of the Waimata Road District was hereto attached in the presence of

WHATAUPOKO ROAD DISTRICT.

SPECIAL order made on the 31st October, 1893:—

Resolved, That a special rate of 3d. in the pound be made on the rateable value of a part of Matokitoki Block, north of Ormond Road, for a period of twenty-six years, commencing on the 1st April, 1894, and ending on the 31st March, 1920, to provide interest upon a joint loan of £500 to be raised by the Waimata and Whataupoko Boards for the purpose of constructing the Matokitoki Road from Section 38, Hapara III., to Section 8, Whataupoko G. The rate to be due and payable in two equal instalments on the 1st June and the 1st December in each year.

SECOND FLATS, FITZROY RIVER.—PARTIAL OBSTRUCTION TO FAIRWAY.

NOTICE is hereby given that the wreck of the steam-vessel "Wonoona" lies nearly at right angles to and with her stern almost touching the line of leading lights and beacons, No. 3 Cutting (Second Flats), Fitzroy River.

The obstruction will be marked in accordance with the regulation—i.e., from sunset to sunrise by two bright lights placed horizontally 6ft. to 12ft. apart, and between sunrise and sunset by two black balls similarly placed.

Masters of vessels are cautioned to use every precaution in passing.

INNER ROUTE TO TORRES STRAIT.—SHOAL SOUTH OF COCKBURN REEF.

NOTICE is hereby given that Lieutenant and Commander Heming, of H.M.S. "Paluma," reports the existence of a shoal to the southward of Cockburn Reef, inner route to Torres Strait.

The shoal, which is a quarter of a mile in extent, lies 1½ miles to the northward of the recommended track, and the least depth of water on it is 17ft. at low-water springs.

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA.—ESTABLISHMENT OF GAS BEACONS AND BUOYS, NEW CHANNEL, POINT HENRY, AND PORT PHILLIP BAY; AND REMOVAL OF GEELONG LIGHTSHIP AND GEELONG AND PORTARLINGTON BEACON-LIGHTS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the New Channel, Point Henry, extending from outer to inner harbours, Geelong, has been completed throughout its entire length of two nautical miles to a navigable depth of 22ft. at average low water, by a width of 110ft.; and that on and after Wednesday, the 20th December, 1893, seven all-round gas-lights, visible in clear weather about six miles distant, and showing white on the north side and red on the south side, will be exhibited 26ft. above the mean level of the sea from pile structures erected about 20ft. outside the north and south edges of the channel.

Entering the channel from seaward the north or starboard-hand side will be indicated by four fixed white lights at about equal distances of 4,040ft. apart, and extending from the eastern to the western entrance of the channel, whilst the south or port-hand side will be marked by three fixed red lights at equal distances, but placed so as to alternate with the white lights. These white lights in line will also be in line with the perch buoy off Point Wilson.

Mariners in charge of steamships navigating this New Channel, Point Henry, or the South Channel, Geelong, shall cause the speed of such steamships to be so reduced that it shall not exceed five nautical miles per hour, and no sailing-vessel shall enter the New Channel, Point Henry, whilst any other vessel is proceeding through such channel in an opposite direction. These cautions will in due course form the subject of port regulations, the infringement of which will render the person in fault liable to a penalty not exceeding £100.

The buoys at present marking Prince George's Bank, Point Richards, and Wilson's Spit will on the same date, 20th December, be removed, and replaced with gas buoys showing occulting lights, visible in clear weather six miles distant, with from six to eight flashes and eclipses every minute. The Prince George's Bank buoy will show a white light, Point Richards red, and Wilson's Spit white.

After the New Channel, Point Henry, has been lit for night traffic as above, the Geelong lightship in the North
