Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory
Declarations.
P URSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
eighth section of "The Justices of the Peace Act
Amendment Act, 1888," I, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
JOHN SHANNON YOUNG,
being a person holding the office of Postmaster under "The
Post Office Act, 1881," at Cheviot, is authorised to take and
receive statutory declarations under the two hundred and
thirty-fourth section of "The Justices of the Peace Act,
1882."
As witness the hand of Sir James Prendergast, Knight,
Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency
the Governor of the said Colony, and as his duly-
appointed Deputy, this fourteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

the Cook County Council, are published in accordance
with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1886."

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
At a poll of the ratepayers in the Maraetaha Special District, taken on Monday, 23rd October, 1893, upon a proposal
by this Council to raise a loan of £550 for the construction
of two bridges on the Mahia Road, the following votes were
recorded:—
For the proposal, 1 voter, exercising 5 votes.
As the whole number of ratepayers on the special roll
voted in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.—MUHUNGA LOAN.
Notice is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Muhunga Special District, taken on the 30th October, 1893,
upon a proposal by this Council to raise a loan of £225 for
the purpose of widening and deepening the Muhunga Creek
and Drain the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 6 voters, exercising 10 votes; against the
proposal, none: total number of voters on the special roll,
7, capable of exercising 11 votes.
As a majority of voters, exercising a majority of votes,
voted in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

Result of poll for proposed loan of £500, for the purpose of
completing Muhunoa Road West:—
I, John Davies, Chairman of the Wirokino Road Board,
do hereby notify the result of the poll taken at Mr. Whiley's
sawmill, Ohau, on Friday, the 3rd November, 1893, to be as
follows:—
Number of ratepayers entitled to vote, 9; votes exercisable
on special roll, 13: number of ratepayers who voted in favour,
6; number of votes exercised in favour, 10; votes not recorded, 3: majority of ratepayers in favour, 3; majority of
votes in favour, 7.
I hereby declare that the proposal has been carried by a
majority of ratepayers and more than half the exercisable
number of votes, being the majority as by statute required.
