Special Order.

WHEREAS the district road described in the Schedule hereto is situated in the County of Manukau, being a county in which the operation of “The Counties Act, 1886,” is suspended, and it is expedient that effect should be given to the twentieth section of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in the hereinbefore-mentioned section contained, and also of the power and authority contained in “The Counties Act, 1886,” do hereby resolve and declare that a special order shall be and the same is hereby made as follows:—

  1. I declare that from and after the fourteenth day of October next the said district road shall be under the exclusive control of the Mauku Road Board, being a local authority having jurisdiction within the said county.

  2. I direct that the cost of constructing and maintaining such road shall be borne by the said Mauku Road Board and the Pukekohe West Road Board—also being a local authority having jurisdiction in the said county—in the following proportions, that is to say: The Mauku Road Board shall bear sixty-seven per centum of such cost, and the Pukekohe West Road Board shall bear thirty-three per centum thereof.


SCHEDULE.

PART OF PATUMAHOE-PUKEKOHE ROAD.

ALL that portion of the road known as the Patumahoe-Pukekohe Road, being about 158 chains long, forming the north-east boundary of Sections Nos. 32, 31, 30, 29, 27, and 26 of Puni Parish, and extending from the southernmost corner of Lot 15 of Section No. 3, Pukekohe Parish, marked “A” on the plan hereinafter referred to, to the southernmost corner of Lot 26A of Section No. 26, Puni Parish, marked “B” on the plan hereinafter referred to: as the same is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 20385, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, in the Land District of Wellington.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, this eighth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

Confirmation of Special Order.

THE necessary public notice of the date fixed for the confirmation of the foregoing special order having been duly given as required by law, and the period prescribed prior to such confirmation being made having elapsed, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in section 20 of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” and of “The Counties Act, 1886,” do hereby confirm the resolution and special order above set forth.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, this fourth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

Rural Lands in the Canterbury Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land for Settlements Act, 1892,” and the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one hundred and thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three; and that the said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”; and I do hereby declare that the rentals at which the said lands shall be leased shall be those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
