NOTICE is hereby given that J. AND J. COLMAN, of 108,
Cannon Street, London, Mustard, Starch, Washing-
blue, and Corn-flour Manufacturers, have applied to register,
under "The Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks Act, 1889,"
the trade-mark of which a representation is shown in the
preceding notice No. 883.
The applicants claim to have used this trade-mark in
respect of starch and blue prior to 1868.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade-
mark shall apply.
Candles, common soap, detergents; illuminating, heating,
or lubricating oils; matches; starch, blue, and other pre-
parations for laundry purposes; including mustard-oil for
illuminating, heating, or lubricating purposes.
Class of Goods in connection with which the Applicants
desire the Trade-mark to be registered.
Class No. 47.
Any person may, within two months of the date of this
Gazette, give notice, in duplicate, at this office, of opposition
to the registration of the trade-mark. A fee of £1 is payable
with such notice.

PLAYER, of Castle Tobacco Factory, Nottingham,
England, Tobacco- and Cigar-manufacturers, have applied to
register, under "The Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks
Act, 1889," the trade-mark of which the following is a repre-
sentation :—

The essential particular of this trade-mark is the repre-
sentation of a life-buoy, enclosing the bust of a sailor and two
ships; and the applicants disclaim any right to the exclusive

The essential particulars of this trade-mark are the mono-
gram, the fac-simile signature, the combination of devices,
and the distinctive label; and the applicant disclaims any
right to the exclusive use of the added matter, except his
