Any person committing a breach of this by-law shall, for
every breach thereof, be liable to a penalty not exceeding
£5.
LICENSES FOR PUBLIC HALL, ETC.
The following shall be the fees respectively to be paid for
licenses to use for places of public amusement the buildings
or enclosures within the Pelorus Road Board District, herein-
after, that is to say:—
For every theatre, for the period of one year or any less
period, £5.
For every circus or enclosure used for public amusement
or performance, for the period of one year, £20; for six
months, £10; for less period, £5.
For every public hall used for any description of public
meeting, entertainment, or performance, not being a theatre
or a circus, £2, for any period not exceeding one year.
For every bowling- or skittle-alley, £1 per annum or less
period.
For every shooting-gallery, £1 per annum or less period.
For every billiard- or bagatelle-room, £1 per annum or
less period.
For any building or enclosure not hereinbefore specified,
£2 per annum or less period.
Every such license, at whatever time of the year the same
may be issued in the first instance, shall terminate on the
31st day of December.
That this by-law shall come into force and operation on
Monday, the 2nd day of January, 1893.

Road Board, is published in accordance with “The
Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT, in accordance with notice given, this Board now strike
a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound on the rateable value of
the following Sections: 1 to 6, 9 to 12, 819, Block XIII.,
Aohanga Survey District, and Sections 1 to 8, 822, Blocks
XV. and XVI., Puketoi Survey District, and Sections 398,
822, 823, 825, 827, 828, and parts of Sections 159, 115, Blocks
III. and IV., Mangapakeha Survey District, to meet interest
and annual charges on a loan of £300, under “The Govern-
ment Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to make and form
a deviation in the road between Manawa and Anniedale.
Such rate shall be an annually-recurring rate for a period of
twenty-six years, and payable, in two equal half-yearly pay-
ments, on the 1st days of January and July in each year;
the first payment being due on the 1st July, 1893, at the
office of the Board.

number of ratepayers voting in favour, 2; number of votes
in favour, 2; vote not recorded, 1; majority of ratepayers in
favour, 1; majority of votes in favour, 1.
I hereby declare that the proposal has been carried by a
majority of ratepayers, and more than one-half of the exer-
cisable number of votes, being the majority required by

RESULT of poll on the proposal to borrow £200, under “The
Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of con-
structing a road at Taieri Mouth, taken on the 30th Decem-
ber, 1892:—
Total ratepayers on roll 51, representing 51 votes; rate-
payers voting for the proposal, 13.
As a majority of the ratepayers did not vote in favour of
the proposal, I hereby declare the resolution to be rejected.

RESULT of poll on a proposal to borrow £1,000 for water-
supply purposes, taken on the 28th December, 1892:—
Number of ratepayers on roll 232, representing 248 votes;
votes recorded for the proposal, 119; number of ratepayers
voting, 129; against the proposal, 24; for the proposal, 100;
informal, 5.
As the majority of the ratepayers voted for the proposal,
but the number so voting are not entitled to one-half of the
total votes that could be exercised by the whole number of
ratepayers, I therefore declare the proposal to be lost.
