THE following special orders, made by the Wirokino Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Road Board Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDERS passed at a Meeting of the Wirokino Road Board held on the 20th May, 1893.

PROPOSED by Mr. Wallace, seconded by Mr. Kebbell, That the resolution passed at the last meeting of this Board, proposing to strike a special rate of 1½d. in the pound on the rateable value of the following sections in Scott’s Road Special District—namely, part Section 358, part Section 319, part Section 320, part Section 333, Block VI., Arawaru Survey District—to pay interest and annual charges on a loan of £350 to make Scott’s Road, such special rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and payable in one sum on 1st July in each year, be now confirmed.

Proposed by Mr. Wallace, seconded by Mr. Gower, That the resolution passed at the last meeting of this Board, of which due notice has been given, striking a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound on the rateable value of the following sections in the Shannon Road East Special District—namely, Sections 692 to 694, 547, 548, 553, 554, 556, 558, 560, 562, 564, 598 to 605, 188A, 188, 180 to 187, 170, 1 to 10, 169, 164, 165, 552, 550, 549, Township of Shannon; Sections 1 to 6, and 15, Block XVI., Mount Robinson Survey District; Section 13, Block XII., Mount Robinson Survey District; Allotment F, Manawatu; and Kukutauaki 2d, No. 12—to pay interest and other annual charges on a loan of £500 for metalling Shannon East Road, such special rate to be annually-recurring for twenty-six years, and payable in one sum on the 1st July in each year, be now confirmed.

I, George Houston Wallace, Clerk to the Wirokino Road Board, do hereby declare that the above special orders were duly passed according to law at the said Board meeting.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Stratford County.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESULT of poll taken on the 15th May, 1893, upon the proposal to borrow £2,000, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to (a) form, grade, bridge, and metal the Toko Road from the East Road to the Mangaehu Road; (b) grade the Toko Road from the Mangaehu Road towards the Ngatimaru Block line, as far as the balance of the loan-money enables:—

Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 8; total number of votes exercisable, 23; number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 2; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 5; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil.

I declare the proposal to be lost.

WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll taken on the 11th May, 1893, upon the proposal to borrow £530, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to (in conjunction with the Stratford County Council) form, grade, bridge, and metal the Finnerty Road from the Mountain Road to the Stewart Road, at an estimated cost of £1,800:—

Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 3; total number of votes exercisable, 4; number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 3; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 4; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil.

I declare the proposal to be carried.

Rate of Interest allowed on Deposits in the Post-Office Savings-Bank.

NOTICE is hereby given that I have determined that, after the 1st day of June proximo, interest will be allowed on every complete pound deposited in the Post-Office Savings-Bank at the rate of 4 per centum per annum on sums not exceeding £200, and at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum on sums over £200, and in the same proportion for any shorter time. Provided that no interest shall be allowed on sums over £500, except as provided by section 7 of “The Post-Office Savings-Banks Amendment Act, 1869.”

CERTIFICATE.

I, THOMAS MOORE PHILSON, M.D., the medical officer in attendance at the execution of Alexander James Scott at the prison of Auckland, do hereby certify and declare that I have this day witnessed the execution of the said Alexander James Scott at the said prison; and I do hereby further certify and declare that the said Alexander James Scott was, in pursuance of the sentence of the Supreme Court, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Given under my hand this twenty-second day of May, in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, at the prison of Auckland.

DECLARATION.

WE do hereby testify and declare that we have this day been present when the extreme penalty of the law was carried into execution on the body of Alexander James Scott, convicted, at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court held at Auckland, on the seventh day of March last, and sentenced to death, and that the said Alexander James Scott was, in pursuance of the said sentence, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Dated this twenty-second day of May, in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, at the prison of Auckland.
