Run No. 13.

Part of present Glynn-Wye Run and Crown land. Contains 36,000 acres. About 3,000 acres good, open, flat land, and about 2,000 acres good birch-bush land, which takes good grass when cleared; about 8,000 acres fair tussock hills and slopes; balance, bush on lower faces of hills, and open well-grassed tops above bush suitable for summer grazing. Will carry 5,000 sheep with frontages now held under existing leases. This block is free from rabbits, lying within the Hurunui Rabbit Board's line of netting fence, and also being protected by a netting fence recently erected by Mr. D. Rutherford up the Waiau River and Steyning Creek.

Run No. 14.

Part of present Glynn-Wye Run and Crown land. Contains 28,000 acres. About 2,000 acres flat land; balance hills with a good deal of bush; open land is fair sheep-country. Will carry 5,000 sheep with frontages now held under existing leases. This block is free of rabbits, being protected by the same fences as No. 13.

Run No. 15.

Part of present Glynn-Wye Run and Crown land. Contains 37,000 acres. About 1,000 acres flat land, and 8,000 acres fair grazing-country; balance, bush on lower slopes, and high open tops suitable for summer grazing. Will carry 4,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. This block is free from rabbits, being protected by the same fences as Nos. 13 and 14, and also by a netting fence recently erected by Mr. D. Rutherford from the junction of the Hope and Waiau Rivers, and running up the Hope and Boyle Rivers, terminating in the bush at Rough Gully.

Run No. 16.

Part of present Lake Run. Contains 45,000 acres. About 800 acres flat land, about 8,000 acres fair sheep-country; balance bush, with high open tops above bush, suitable for summer grazing. Will carry 3,000 sheep with the frontage now held under existing leases. This country is free from rabbits.

Run No. 17.

Part of present Glynn-Wye Run and Crown land. Contains 38,000 acres. About 500 acres flat land; 20,000 acres fairly good sheep-country; balance bush and rough hill-tops. Will carry 6,000 sheep with the frontages held under existing leases. This block is free from rabbits.

Run No. 18.

Part of the present Tekoa Run and Crown land. Contains 70,000 acres. About 1,000 acres flat land; about 10,000 acres fair sheep-country; balance high rough country with a good deal of bush. Will carry 3,000 sheep with frontages held under existing leases. Free of rabbits.

Runs Nos. 19 and 20.

Containing 16,000 acres and 1,600 acres respectively. These are blocks of rough unoccupied Crown land adjoining licenses, and which should have been included in those licenses when granted. Any low lands suitable for working these blocks from have been alienated, and the Commissioners can only recommend that the licenses should be extended to include these blocks. These areas are free from rabbits, and well inside the lines of netting fences.

Run No. 21.

Part of present St. Helen's Run. Contains 13,000 acres. This is a block of country lying at the back of the Hanmer Plain Hot Springs Reserve. All fairly good sheep-country; mostly open tussock and snow-grass. Will carry 3,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. Infested with rabbits, and outside boundaries of netting fences.

Run No. 22.

Part of present St. Helen's Run. Contains 20,000 acres. About 500 acres flat land; balance of country fair tussock spurs, and high shingle tops. Will carry 4,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. Infested with rabbits, and outside boundaries of netting fences.

Run No. 23.

Part of present St. Helen's Run. Contains 20,000 acres. About 2,000 acres flat land; balance of country fair tussock spurs, and high tops. Will carry 5,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. Infested with rabbits, and outside boundaries of netting fences.

Run No. 24.

Part of present St. Helen's Run. Contains 49,000 acres. About 3,000 acres flat land; balance of country good tussock and some high tops. Will carry 12,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. Infested with rabbits, and outside boundaries of netting fences.

Run No. 25.

Part of present St. Helen's Run. Containing 29,000 acres. About 2,000 acres flat land; balance of country good tussock land, with some bush and high tops. Will carry 7,000 sheep with the frontages now held under existing leases. Infested with rabbits, and outside boundaries of netting fences.

Pastoral Runs in Canterbury for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned pastoral runs will be submitted to public auction, at the local Land and Survey Office, Timaru, on Wednesday, the 28th June, 1893, at 11 a.m.

SCHEDULE.

PASTORAL LICENSES UNDER "THE LAND ACT, 1892."
Pastoral Runs.—Geraldine County (Part of Mount Peel and Orari Stations).

This run comprises two sections, which are situated about two miles and four miles respectively north of Mount Peel Homestead, about twenty miles from Geraldine, on the banks of the Rangitata River. They comprise well-grassed flats, terraces, and hill lands of fair quality, stony in places, and well watered. The elevation ranges from 1,000ft. to 1,500ft. The southern section is accessible by a formed road. The run is very suitable for occupation by a small grazier.

This run is situated adjacent to Mr. Tripp's Orari Homestead, about twelve miles from Geraldine, and comprises hilly land, intersected by gullies and rocky in places. Part of the run is well grassed with native and English grasses, and about one-third of the area is covered with scrub and bush. The soil is generally of good quality, and the block is well watered by several streams. The elevation ranges from 1,000ft. to 2,600ft. This run, except for the extent of fencing required, is suitable for occupation by a small grazier.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Possession of the runs will be given to the purchasers of the licenses on the day of sale.
  2. No person or company may become the holder of more than one run under Part VI. of "The Land Act, 1892": Provided that the holder of any run under the said Act of a carrying capacity of less than ten thousand sheep or two thousand head of cattle may become the lessee of an aggregate area sufficient to carry such a number of sheep or cattle. The holder of any small grazing-run under Part V. of "The Land Act, 1892," shall not be the holder of any run under Part VI. of the said Act.
  3. The license shall be dated on the 1st March, 1894, and shall include in addition the whole period between the date of possession and the said 1st March, 1894.
  4. The license shall be subject to the following conditions, amongst others:—
    That if the licensee or any person claiming an interest through or under him shall make or cause to be made any agreement or contract, or shall give or cause to be given or taken any negotiable security, for the purpose of defeating or evading the provisions of, or shall in any way whatsoever directly or indirectly commit or be privy to a fraud upon, "The Land Act, 1892," the license shall be liable to be forfeited and revoked:
    That the licensee shall prevent the destruction or burning of timber or bush on the land comprised in the license:
    That the licensee shall prevent the growth or spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the license, and shall with all reasonable speed remove or cause to be removed all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner:
    and
    That the licensee shall destroy all rabbits on the land comprised in the license, and shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner or an officer appointed by him to inspect the ground.
