THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Manganui Road Board, is published in accordance
with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.
Result of poll taken on Monday, the 10th April, 1893, upon
the following proposal: (1.) To form the Stanley Road from
the Croydon Road eastwards. (2.) To raise for such purpose
the sum of £1,000 under "The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886." (3.) To strike, as security on this loan,
a special rate of 4½d. in the pound over the following sec-
tions: Sections Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24,
Block XV., and Sections Nos. 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15,
Block XI., Huiroa Survey District. (4.) To lay aside all
deferred-payment and perpetual-lease revenue accruing to
the special rating district to pay off the loan.
Number of ratepayers on special roll, representing 1
vote each, 13; number of ratepayers who voted for the pro-
posal, 10; no votes were recorded against the proposal.
I therefore declare the proposal to be duly carried.

Results of Polls (2) for Proposed Loans, Eketahuna Road
District, County of Wairarapa North.

the Eketahuna Road Board, are published in accord-
ance with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1886."

EKETAHUNA ROAD DISTRICT.
THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Road Board
Office, Eketahuna, on the 13th April, 1893, on a proposal to
raise a loan of £350 for formation and metalling No. 1 South
Road, Parkville:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, '0; number of
pollable votes, 10; number of ratepayers who voted for the
proposal 1, exercising 1 vote; number of ratepayers who
voted against the proposal 1, exercising 1 vote; number of
ratepayers who did not record their votes 8, being entitled to
exercise 8 votes.
As the number of ratepayers who voted, and the number
of votes recorded, in favour of the proposal are in each case
a minority of the total number on the roll, I therefore de-
clare the proposal lost.

EKETAHUNA ROAD DISTRICT.
THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Road Board
Office, Eketahuna, on the 13th April, 1893, on a proposal to
raise a loan of £600 for building a bridge over the Makaka-
kahi River, at the Central Mangaone Road:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 15; number of
pollable votes, 15; number of ratepayers who voted for the
proposal 11, exercising 11 votes; number of ratepayers who
voted against the proposal, none; number of ratepayers who
did not record their votes 4, being entitled to exercise 4
votes.
As the number of ratepayers who voted, and the number
of votes recorded, in favour of the proposal are in each case
a majority of the total numbers on the roll, I therefore de-
clare the proposal carried.

Notice to Local Authorities under "The Government Loans
to Local Bodies Act, 1886."
The Treasury,
Wellington, 20th March, 1893.
PURSUANT to section 16 of "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," the Colonial Treasurer hereby
gives notice that on Wednesday, the 26th April, 1893, he will
be prepared to consider applications from Local Authorities
for loans under the Act.
Applications should be addressed to the Colonial Treasurer,
and in the corner of the envelope the words "Local Bodies'
Loans" should be written; and every application must be
posted so as to arrive at the Treasury on or before the 25th
April, 1893.
Applications received between the present date and the
25th April next will be considered on the date mentioned
above.

Prizes for Collections of Noxious Weeds and Insects.—
Notice No. 365.
Department of Agriculture,
Wellington, 7th April, 1893.
PRIZES offered for collections of noxious weeds and
insects, &c.:—
Collection of noxious weeds: First prize, £10; second, £5.
All specimens must have been gathered in the colony.
Each specimen must be mounted on paper 18in. by 11in.,
and bear, if possible, the popular and scientific name, also
the locality where gathered.
Collection of insects injurious to New Zealand vegetation,
and their natural enemies and parasites: First prize, £10;
second, £5.
All insects must be properly set and named, also have
locality tickets attached.
The collections winning the prizes to become the property
of the department, where they will remain on exhibition
with the name of the collector affixed.
All collections for competition must be delivered at the
office of the Secretary for Agriculture, at the Government
Buildings, at Wellington, not later than the 31st December,
1893.
Each collection must be marked with a motto, and
accompanied by a sealed envelope containing a copy of such
motto, together with the full name and address of the
exhibitor.
The unsuccessful exhibits will be returned to the owners
carriage free.

Bonus for Eradicating the Californian Thistle.—Notice
No. 364.
Department of Agriculture,
Wellington, 29th March, 1893.
CONDITIONS on which a bonus of £250 is offered for a
means of eradicating the Californian thistle (Cnicus
arvensis):—
-
All applications for the bonus must be sent addressed
to the Hon. the Minister of Agriculture, Wellington, and
must be in his hands not later than the 1st June, 1893. -
The applicants must be prepared to submit their pro-
posed means of eradication in such manner and at such
time and place as the Minister shall direct. -
The Government shall appoint a committee of three or
more persons, under whose instructions and before whom all
tests shall be carried through. -
The proposed bonus, or any part thereof, will not be
paid until the proposed remedy has been proved effectual.

Tenders for Letter-carriers' Uniforms.
General Post Office,
Wellington, 17th April, 1893.
TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office,
Wellington, until Saturday, the 13th May proximo,
for the manufacture within the colony, from New Zealand-
made material, of letter-carriers' uniforms—namely, tunic,
trousers, riding-trousers, overcoat, and overcoat with cape;
also for tunic and trousers made of white drill or duck.
Samples of clothing (except white drill or duck garments)
may be seen at all Chief Post Offices, where also specifica-
tions and form of tender may be obtained.
Tenders, quoting price for each garment, accompanied by
samples of material, to be addressed to the Hon. the Post-
master-General, General Post Office, Wellington, and in-
dorsed outside "Tender for letter-carriers' uniforms."
