A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Marriage Act, 1880,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Bay of Islands, Wairoa, Rotorua, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, and West Taieri Districts; and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into nine marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow :—
BAY OF ISLANDS DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north and east generally by the sea from the Takou River to Helena Bay; towards the south by Whangarei County; towards the west generally by the Kawakawa Riding of Bay of Islands County, the southern shores of Waikare Inlet, and the Kawakawa River, the western boundaries of Owake Block No. 4426, Section No. 204, Block V., Russell Survey District, Ngamoko-oneone Block No. 210, and Waimangaro Block No. 211; again by the Kawakawa Riding to the Ngatahuna Stream, by that stream, the Taratara or Manaia Stream, the Waiaruhe River, and the Waitangi River to the road intersecting Rangaunu Block No. 178, by that road through Block I., Kawakawa Survey District, and Blocks XVI., XII., and XI., Kaeo Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 1 of the last-mentioned block; and towards the north-west generally by Whangaroa County.
OHAEEAWAI DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Whangaroa County; towards the east generally by the road running through Blocks XI., XII., and XVI., Kaeo Survey District, and Block I., Kawakawa Survey District, from the north-eastern corner of Section No. 1, Block XI., Kaeo Survey District, to the Waitangi River; thence by that river, the Waiaruhe River, the Taratara or Manaia Stream, and the Ngatahuna Stream, and by the Kawakawa Riding of Bay of Islands County; towards the south-east by Whangarei and Hobson Counties; and towards the west generally by Hokianga County.
TAUPO DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north-west by the Taranaki Land District boundary-line; towards the north-east by part of a right line drawn from Pukearuhe Mountain to the mouth of Waihora Stream at Lake Taupo; again towards the north-west by a right line from the mouth of that stream to Uraura Trig. Station; again towards the north-east generally by a right line from that trig. station to Paeroa Trig. Station, and a right line thence passing through Tuwhiwau Trig. Station to Whakatane River; towards the east generally by that river to its source, by a right line, thence to the source of the stream running into the head of Whanganui arm of Waikaremoana, and by that stream, by Waikaremoana to a point where its southern shore is intersected by the production of the north-west boundary-lines of Section No. 1, Block VIII., Mangahopai Survey District, and an educational reserve, by that production, and by the said reserve and the said Section No. 1 to Waiau River, across and by that river, and by Mangahopai Stream, and by Putere Block; and towards the south generally by Rotokakarangu Block and Te Hoe River, and by the 39th parallel of south latitude to the Taranaki Land District boundary-line first mentioned.
WAIROA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north-west by the north-western shore of Waikaremoana to the mouth of the stream running into the head of the Whanganui arm of the said Waikaremoana; towards the north by a right line thence to Trig. Station No. 93, Tuahu Survey District; towards the north-east by a right line thence to the confluence of the Mangarewarewa Stream with the Ruakituri River; thence by the left bank of the said Ruakituri River to the confluence of that river with the Hangaroa River; thence by a right line to Paritu on the East Coast; towards the east generally by the ocean; towards the south generally by Hawke’s Bay to the mouth of the Waikare River; towards the south-west by that river to its source; towards the west by a line due north to the 39th parallel of south latitude; and again towards the north-west generally by that parallel, by the Te Hoe River, by the north-west boundary-line of Rotokakarangu Block, the western boundary-lines of Putere Block, by Mangahopai Stream, by the Waiau River, and by a right line forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 1, Block VIII., Mangahopai Survey District, and of an educational reserve, and by the production of the said right line to the southern shore of Waikaremoana, and by that shore to the north-western shore first mentioned.
ROTORUA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north by the County of Tauranga from the County of Piako to the Parish of Matata; towards the east by the County of Whakatane to the confiscation boundary-line; again towards the north by the said confiscation boundary-line to the Whakatane River; again towards the east generally by the said Whakatane River to where its left bank is intersected by a right line drawn from Paeroa Trig. Station through Tuwhiwau Trig. Station; towards the south-west generally by that line to Paeroa Trig. Station, and a right line thence in the direction of Uraura Trig. Station to where it intersects a right line drawn from Atiamuri to Te Whetu Native Settlement; and generally towards the west by a
