Land set apart for Settlement.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1891”
(herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things,
enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall
be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary
that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power
and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the
purposes of the said Act, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim
the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set
apart for settlement.

SCHEDULE.

PART OF WAOKU BLOCK.
All that area in the Land District of Auckland, containing
by admeasurement 1,584 acres, more or less, situated in
Blocks IX. and X., Waoku Survey District. Bounded
towards the north and north-east by a forest reserve; towards
the east by the production of the eastern boundary-line of
Section No. 5 of Block XIV. of said survey district; towards
the south by Sections Nos. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 of said Block
XIV.; and towards the south-west and west generally by
Section No. 12 of Block IX., by a public road, by Section
No. 75 of Block IX. aforesaid, and by the production of the
eastern boundary-line of said Section No. 75 to the forest
reserve first mentioned.
Also all that area in the Land District of Auckland, con-
taining by admeasurement 1,220 acres, more or less, situated
in Block XIV., Waoku Survey District. Bounded towards
the north by Waimamaku River and a road; towards the
east by a line in continuation of the eastern boundary-line
of Section No. 5 of said Block XIV.; towards the south by
the summit of the watershed between the Wairau and Wai-
mamaku Rivers; and towards the west by Block XIII.,
Waoku Survey District, and by Section No. 4, Block IX., of
said survey district.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this
fourth day of March, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

Defining the Middle Line of Further Portions of the Wel-
lington–Napier Railway (Mangatainoka and Manga-atua
Sections).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Wellington–Napier Railway (herein-
after termed “the said railway”) is a railway the
construction of which is authorised by “The Public Works
Act, 1879:” And whereas the said railway has been partly
constructed, and it has been determined to construct and
maintain further portions of the same:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works
Act, 1879,” and “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in
exercise of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the middle line of the said further portions of the said
railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

MANGATAINOKA SECTION.
Commencing at a point on the left bank of the Makakahi
River in Section No. 73, Block V., Mangaone Survey Dis-
trict, the said point being the termination of the railway as
described in a Proclamation dated the 17th September, 1886,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 50, of the
23rd September, 1886; proceeding thence generally in north-
westerly and north-easterly directions for a distance of about
21 miles 34 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over
the following lands, viz., Mangaone Survey District, Blocks
VI. and I., railway reserve; Mangahao Survey District,
Block XIII., Native land; Blocks XIV. and XI., railway
reserve; Block VII., railway reserve and Native land; Block
VIII., Native land and railway reserve; Block IV., railway
reserve and railway land; and terminating at a point in that
portion of the said railway land originally forming part of
Native block, Mangatainoka No. 1bc No. 2, Block IV.,
Mangahao Survey District, the said terminating-point being
also a point on a portion of the Awapurua Section of the
railway from Wellington to Napier distant about 22 chains
in a north-easterly direction from the terminating-point of
the said Awapurua Section, as described in a Proclamation
dated the 23rd March, 1888, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 20, of the 29th March, 1888; including
all intervening and adjoining places, lands, roads, reserves,
streams, rivers, and watercourses; all in the Provincial
District of Wellington: as the same is more particularly
delineated by a red line on the plan marked P.W.D. 16920,
a copy of which has been deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the said
Provincial District of Wellington.
