Ordinance, 1851," appointed

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
point the following Commissioners, under "The New
Zealand Land Claimants Ordinance, 1851," for hearing and
deciding claims to land by persons claiming title from,
through, or under the New Zealand Company:—

SIDNEY WEETMAN, for the Provincial District of Taranaki,
vice J. M. Batham, resigned ;

JOHN HOLLAND BAKER, for the Provincial District of Wel-
lington, vice G. B. Davy, resigned ;

HENRY GOSTLING CLARK, for the Provincial District of
Marlborough ; and

JOHN SAMUEL BROWNING, for the Provincial District of
Nelson, vice A. Greenfield, resigned.

Guano not to be removed from Chesterfield, Huon, and
Walpole Islands, Dependencies of New Caledonia.

AT the request of the Vice-Consul for France, at Welling-
ton, it is notified for general information that the
Chesterfield, Huon, and Walpole Islands, situated about 500
miles to the north-west of New Caledonia, and forming part
of the dependencies of that colony, have been leased by the
French Government, and that consequently no one except
the lessees has the right to remove guano from them.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans (3), County of Pahiatua.

THE following notices (3), received from the Chairman
of the Pahiatua County Council, are published in
accordance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

Loan No. 31.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 27th
January, 1893, on a proposal to borrow £1,400, under the pro-
visions of "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act,
1886," for the purpose of forming the Tiraumea Valley Road
from the south-west boundary of Section 67, Block XII.,
Makuri, to southern boundary of county; also formation of
a bridle-track, Taumata Road, from its junction with Tirau-
mea Valley Road to south corner of Section 7, Block I.,
Puketoi:—

Number of ratepayers on roll 14, representing 14 votes;
number of ratepayers who recorded their votes in favour of
the proposal 8, exercising 8 votes; votes not recorded, 6.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising more than one-half
the total number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I
declare it carried.
