CLIFTON COUNTY.

RESULT of a poll taken at Taiata, in the Ngatimaru Riding, Clifton County, on the 26th November, 1892, on a proposal to raise a loan of £3,000, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of making various roads in the Ngatimaru Riding, Clifton County:—

Number on special roll 48, capable of exercising 48 votes; number who voted in favour of the proposal 3, exercising 3 votes; number who did not vote, 45.

I therefore declare the proposal lost.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Caversham, is published in accordance with “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF CAVERSHAM.

NOTICE is hereby given that, at the poll taken this day to decide whether the burgesses of Caversham are favourable or otherwise for the Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 to extend the water-supply to St. Clair, the following number of votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 560; against the proposal, 14; majority of votes in favour of the proposal, 546; informal votes, 12; total number of ratepayers on roll 652, representing 881 votes; ratepayers voting for the proposal, 399; ratepayers voting against the proposal, 14.

As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than half the number of votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal carried.

I, Robert Wilson, Mayor of Caversham, residing at Caversham, do solemnly and sincerely declare,—

That a poll of the ratepayers of Caversham was taken on the 1st day of December, 1892, to ascertain whether the ratepayers of Caversham are favourable or otherwise for the Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of extending the water-supply to St. Clair and portion of Allandale, on the security of a water-rate, as provided by clause 325 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” when the following number of votes were recorded: For the proposal, 560; against the proposal, 14; informal, 12; majority of votes in favour of the proposal, 546. That the total number of ratepayers on the roll is 652, representing 881 votes; ratepayers voting for the proposal, 399; ratepayers voting against the proposal, 14. As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the number of votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal carried.

That in taking the above poll the provisions of sections 178 to 184 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” were duly carried out.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY.

THE following is the result of poll on a proposal to raise a loan of £300 for metalling the unmetalled portions of the Eketauna Tinui Road, in the Riding of Eketauna:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll 19, representing 20 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 11, representing 12 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil; number of ratepayers who did not exercise votes 8, representing 8 votes.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers on the special roll voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the said proposal to be carried.

THE following special order, made by the Alfredton Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, to meet the interest on the loan of £2,200 for Pah and Mangaone Valley Roads, borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments, a special rate of 4½d. in the pound be struck on the rateable value of the following sections: Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, Block IV., Sections 10, 11, 12, 9, 8, 4, 1, 174, 175, 85 acres of Section 3, and 74 acres of Section 2, Block VIII., Mangaone; and that the thirds of Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, Block IV., Sections 10, 11, 12, 9, 8, 4, 1, and part of Sections 2 and 3, Block VIII., be also pledged in repayment of same; the said rate to commence on the 1st April, 1893, and ending on the 31st March, 1919, to be paid each year, in one sum, on the 1st June, first payment to be made on the 1st June, 1893.

I certify that the above was duly passed.

THE following special order, made by the Fitzherbert Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Fitzherbert Road Board, at a Meeting held on Monday, the 12th December, 1892.

THAT a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound be made on the value of the following properties: Sections 269 and 270, Block XVI., Kairanga Survey District, Section 258, Block XV., Kairanga Survey District, Sections 259, 261, 263, 263A, 264, 273, 275, 275A, and 276, Block III., Arawaru Survey District, Sections 271, 272, and 274, Block IV., Arawaru Survey District, and within the Fitzherbert Road District, for the purpose of providing interest and other annual charges on a loan of £900, borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of the portion of the Turitea Road from the northern boundary of Section 269, Block XVI., Kairanga Survey District, to the southern corner of Section 276, Block III., Arawaru Survey District; such rate to be an annually recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, and shall be payable at the office of the Fitzherbert Road Board, in two instalments, viz., on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each year.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been duly made by the Fitzherbert Road Board, as required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”
