Sections 7, 9, 10, 20, 21, and 36 are improved sections, and, generally speaking, forest lands, good soil. Section 38, nearly all open land, covered with fern and tea-tree. Section 24, about three-fourths mixed forest, intersected by the Uwhiroa Stream and by a swamp. Sections 51, 52, and 66, forest land, good quality. Sections 58 and 68 are all mixed forest. Situated in the Herekino Special Settlement. The Old Government Buildings (depicted) were completed in 1876 and initially housed the entire Wellington-based civil service as well as the entire New Zealand Cabinet. The Executive Council met there until 1948.
