Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection, after the lapse of a period of not less than thirty days from the date of the first public notification hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

All very broken forest land, containing a few scattered kauri-trees of little value. N.W. portion Section 16 contains about 30,000ft. timber, and Section 184 about 100,000ft. These lands are suitable for sheep-raising, being partly sandstone country. They are close to the railway-line now under construction to Makarau Railway-station.

Open and undulating land of poor quality; situated about one and a half miles from Wade Township.

Section 7, about 60 acres forest, the remainder open fern land and swamp, containing a little kauri. Section 8, poor fern ridges, with a few patches of bush in the gullies and a few acres of swamp. Both lots lie about two and a half miles from Whananaki Post-office.

All heavy forest, for the most part low and wet; situated about twenty-three and a half miles from Stratford along the East Road, the first twenty-one miles have been formed as a cart-road, and three miles metalled. A sum of money has been included in the price to cover the cost of roading without metalling.
