MOA ROAD BOARD.
RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Mangaone Special Rating
District, taken on the 3rd November, 1892, upon the following
proposal:—
- To form and improve the Mangaone Road. 2. To bor-
row for such purpose the sum of £250 under "The Govern-
ment Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886." 3. To strike, as
security on such loan, a special rate of 1½d. in the pound
over the following lands—namely, Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 24,
25, 26, Block II., Huiroa Survey District; Sections 9, 11, 12,
Block XIV., Waitara Survey District.
Number of ratepayers on special roll, representing 1 vote
each, 9; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 7;
number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil.
I declare the proposal duly carried.

ling the Eltham Road from the Palmer Road to the
Waingongoro River.
Notice is hereby given that the poll of ratepayers, taken on
the 8th instant, resulted as follows:—
Number of voters on roll, 59; number of votes exercisable,
89; number of voters for proposal, 38; number of votes for
proposal, 51; number of voters against proposal, 3; number
of votes against proposal, 5; informal, 1.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following special order, made by the Hutt County
Council, is published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDER OF THE HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
Know all men by these presents that, at a special meeting of
the Hutt County Council, duly convened and held on the
11th day of October, 1892, the following resolution was
passed (that is to say): That the provisions of "The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," be adopted by the Hutt County
Council, and that the same shall be in force therein on the
confirmation of this resolution by a meeting of this Council,
to be duly convened and held in that behalf pursuant to
section 124 of "The Counties Act, 1886."
And that at a meeting of the said Council, duly convened
and held on this 8th day of November, 1892, for the purpose
of confirming the said resolution, the same was confirmed.
In witness whereof the seal of the Council has been here-
unto affixed, this 8th day of November, 1892.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Salt.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 24th February, 1892.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will
be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of salt,
exclusively either by evaporation of salt-water or from rock
mined in the colony, on the following conditions, that is to
say:—

The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March,
-
Not more than £250 will be paid for salt manufactured
in the North Island, and not more than £250 for salt manu-
factured in the South Island. -
The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as each
lot of 50 tons of salt is manufactured, on the certificate of
an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the salt is
of good marketable quality. -
In the event of more than one person manufacturing
the stated quantity of salt in the North or South Islands
respectively before the 31st March, 1893, inquiry will be
made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found
that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus in either
the North Island or the South Island, the amount will be
divided, but in no case shall more than £250 be paid for salt
manufactured in the North Island and £250 for salt manu-
factured in the South Island. -
The salt in respect of which any bonus is claimed and
the material used in its manufacture will be examined by
the officer aforesaid, who may require proof that the salt is of
genuine New Zealand production, and that sales have been
made at fair market prices.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Pig-iron from Ironsand
or Iron-ore.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will
be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of pig-
iron of marketable quality manufactured in the colony
after this date from magnetic or titaniferous ironsand or
iron-ore, all material, fuel, and fluxes being the produce
of New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to
say:—
-
The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March,
-
The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as
each lot of 50 tons of iron is manufactured, on the certifi-
cate of an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the
iron is of good marketable quality. -
In the event of more than one person manufacturing
the required quality of pig-iron before the date named,
inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when,
if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a
bonus, the amount will be divided; but in no case shall the
total amount of money paid by way of bonus exceed £500. -
The iron in respect of which any bonus is claimed and
the ironsand or ore from which it is manufactured will be
examined by the officer aforesaid, who may require proof
that not only the ore, but that the lime, coal, and any other
material used in the manufacture, is of genuine New Zealand
production, and that sales of pig-iron have been made at
fair market prices.
