NEW SOUTH WALES,] Proclamation by His Excellency the TO WIT. Right Honourable VICTOR ALBERT GEORGE, EARL OF JERSEY, a Member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of New South Wales and its Dependencies.

WHEREAS by section ten of “The Imported Stock Act, 1871,” the Governor is empowered, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette, to restrict or absolutely prohibit for any specified time the importation or introduction of any stock, fodder, or fittings from any other colony or country in which there is reason to believe any infectious or contagious disease in stock exists: And whereas by a Proclamation under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, published in the Government Gazette of the 22nd May, 1888, pursuant to the provisions of the Imported Stock Act of 1871, amongst other things scab in sheep was declared to be an infectious or contagious disease: And whereas there is reason to believe that scab at the present time exists in sheep in the Colony of New Zealand: Now, therefore, I, Victor Albert George, Earl of Jersey, Governor aforesaid, with the advice of the Executive Council, do, by this my Proclamation, absolutely prohibit, for a period of twelve months from the eighteenth instant, the importation or introduction of any sheep, or any fodder or fittings put on board any vessel with or for the use of any sheep, from the Colony of New Zealand.

Given under my hand and seal, at Government House, Sydney, this eleventh day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and in the fifty-fifth year of Her Majesty's reign.

Additional Land taken in the Lower Kaikorai Survey District for the Purposes of the Hurunui-Bluff Railway (Main Line).

A NOTIFICATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Hurunui-Bluff Railway (Main Line), to take further land in the Lower Kaikorai Survey District, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:

Now, therefore, we, the New Zealand Railway Commissioners, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on us by “The Government Railways Act, 1887,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling us in that behalf, do hereby notify and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the purposes above mentioned.
