Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Napier Harbour Board.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, is published in accordance with section 21 of “The Napier Harbour Board Empowering and Loan Act, 1884.”

IN THE MATTER OF “THE NAPIER HARBOUR BOARD LOAN ACT, 1892.”

To the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.

I, John Davies Ormond, Chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, do hereby give you notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Napier Harbour Rating District, taken on Monday, the 10th day of October, 1892, on a proposal to borrow £200,000 for the purpose of the completion of the breakwater construction of the Western Mole, necessary wharves, and all other necessary works and appliances for the harbour at Napier, and for providing proper access to and from any such works, the following votes were recorded for and against the proposal:—

For the proposal, 2,058 votes; against the proposal, 130 votes; majority for the proposal, 1,928 votes.

As the number of votes given for the proposal within the district exceeds the number given against it by more than one-fourth, I hereby further give you notice that the resolution is duly carried.

Special Order made by the Heretaunga Road Board, County of Hawke’s Bay.

THE following special order, made by the Heretaunga Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

HERETAUNGA ROAD BOARD.

RESOLUTION proposed and carried at a meeting of the Heretaunga Road Board, held on Monday, the 17th October, 1892:—

Whereas the ratepayers of the Heretaunga Road District do not exceed one hundred in number: And whereas in accordance with the provisions of section 21 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” three-fourths of such ratepayers did, on the 5th day of May last past, consent to the levying of the special rate hereinafter mentioned: And whereas the rateable values of the properties of the ratepayers (as appearing on the valuation-roll of the said district) signing the said consent are collectively greater than the rateable values of those ratepayers who have not consented to the levying of such special rate: Now, the Heretaunga Road Board resolves (by way of special order) that, for the purpose of securing the payment of interest and sinking fund upon a loan of £3,000, to be borrowed by the Board under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies’ Act, 1886,” for defraying the expense of constructing a bridge over the Ngaruroro River at Pakowhai, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, and also for defraying the expense of constructing a bridge over the Tutaekuri-Waimate River, and the approaches to such bridges; and also for defraying the expense of making and forming a road from Pakowhai to the junction of the said road with the Borough of Hastings, a special rate of ⅝d. in the pound be made and levied on all that portion of the Heretaunga Road District, in the said provincial district, and being portion of the Heretaunga Block and the Karamu Reserve, containing 2,440 acres, more or less, bounded on the north-east by the Ohiwia Stream and the old bed of the Ngaruroro River, on the south-east by the Karamu Road, on the south-west by the Borough of Hastings, and on the north-west by Subdivision C of the said Heretaunga Block; such special rate to be an annually-recurring rate for the period of twenty-six years from the 30th day of October, 1892, and shall be payable half-yearly in advance on the 30th days of October and April in each year.

I hereby certify that the above resolution has been duly passed.

Special Orders made by the Moa Road Board, County of Taranaki.

THE following special orders, made by the Moa Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDERS made by the Moa Road Board, Taranaki County, on the 31st day of August, 1892, and confirmed on the 29th day of September, 1892.

(1.) THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £260, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming the Toetoe Road, a special rate of 2d. in the pound be made and levied over the Toetoe Special Rating District, comprising the following lands, viz.: Section 1, Block XV., Waitara Survey District; Sections 8, 9, 10, Block III., Huiroa Survey District. This rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in two half-yearly instalments on the 1st January and 1st July in each year.

(2.) That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £160, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming the Richmond Road, a special rate of 1½d. in the pound be made and levied over the Richmond Special Rating District, comprising the following lands, viz.: Sections 215, 220, 221, 227, 229, 230, 232, 233, Huirangi. This rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in two half-yearly instalments on the 1st January and the 1st July in each year.

I hereby certify that the above special orders have been duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special rate of 1½d. in the pound be hereby made over the whole of the rateable value of the rateable property (Crown and Native lands excepted) within the Ongo Ward of the Kiwitea Road District, for the purpose of providing interest on a loan of £5,000, to be borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;” such rate to be annually recurring for twenty-six years, and to be payable in equal half-yearly instalments on the 1st days of January and July in each year. Also, that a special rate of 7½d. in the pound be hereby made over the whole of the rateable value of the rateable property (Crown and Native lands excepted) within the Sandon Small-farm Block, being part of the Hautapu Ward of the Kiwitea Road District, for the purpose of providing interest on a loan of £4,000, to be borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;” such rate to be annually recurring for twenty-six years, and to be payable in equal half-yearly instalments on the 1st days of January and July in each year.

I hereby certify that the above special orders were made by the Kiwitea Road Board, at a special meeting held on Saturday, the 22nd October, 1892, as required by the Road Boards Act.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Roads in connection with the Railway from Kaukapakapa Northwards: Makarau Section.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of roads in connection with the railway from Kaukapakapa northwards, Makarau Section, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the said roads and of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office, Makarau, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of
