THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.
THE following is the result of the poll of ratepayers of the Wainuioru to the East Coast Road Special Rating District,
taken at Tai pos Station, Wainuioru, on the 11th day of October, 1892, upon the proposal to raise a loan of £3,000, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of constructing a cart-traffic road from Wainuioru to the East Coast, and to levy a special rate of 74042d. in the pound, annually recurring for twenty-six years, upon the properties benefited by the said work, being the area hereinafter described.
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 25; total number of votes exercisable, 46; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 14; number of votes given for the proposal, 31; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil; number of votes given against the proposal, nil; number of ratepayers who did not vote, 11; number of votes not exercised, 15.
As a majority in number of the whole of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than half the number of votes which can be exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, I declare the proposal duly carried.
The following is the special rating district, viz.: Bounded towards the north by the Wairarapa North County, from the mouth of the Kaiwhata River to the junction of the Kuamahanga Stream with the Wainuioru River; towards the west and south by the Wainuioru River, and by Sections 282 and 237, Block VI., Wainuioru Survey District, Sections 284, 285, and 286, Block X., same survey district, Sections 287, 281, and 296, Block XI., same survey district, Sections 297, 300, and 221, Block XV., same survey district, Sections 223, 225, and 226, Block III., Mount Adams Survey District, Section 228, Block II., same survey district, Sections 229, 212, 7, 6, and 5, Block VI., same survey district; and towards the east by the Pacific Ocean, from the mouth of the Waiuru Stream to the mouth of the Kaiwhata River.

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Waimea County Council, at a Special Meeting held on the 3rd day of August, 1892, and confirmed at a subsequent Meeting held on the 8th day of September, 1892.
THAT, in pursuance of the powers vested in them by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Waimea County Council hereby make the following special order: That the prayer of the petition of the ratepayers in the Stanley Brook Road District be given effect to, and that the Stanley Brook Road Board be dissolved, and the said road district merged in the County of Waimea, on and after the 8th day of September, 1892.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been duly made in accordance with “The Counties Act, 1886.”

REFERRING to Notices to Mariners published by this department, No. 13 of the 23rd April last, and No. 28 of the 21st ultimo, on the subject of the leading-lights at Macquarie Harbour, west coast of Tasmania, the following corrected notice, received from the Marine Board, Hobart, is published for general information.

CORRECTED NOTICE TO MARINERS.—ALTERATION TO LEADING-LIGHTS AT MACQUARIE HEADS, WEST COAST, TASMANIA.
NOTICE is hereby given that, on and after the 1st day of October next, a red sector of 35° (from S. 16° E. to S. 19° W.) will be exhibited from the white light shown from the tower on Entrance Island. The red sector is intended to cover the North Spit, which extends from Entrance Island to the bar, and to act as a guide to vessels approaching from the northward, when the inner (green) light is eclipsed by Entrance Island.
Caution: As the bar occasionally shifts to a greater or less distance from the North Spit, masters of vessels and others crossing the bar are cautioned that they must not
