A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Marriage Act, 1880,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Wanganui and Palmerston North Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—
WANGANUI DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the west generally by Sections Nos. 63, 64, 44, and 43, Block XIII., Nukumaru Survey District, by the western boundary-line of Pakaraka Native Reserve to the north-west corner of the said reserve, by a right line thence to the intersection of the Waitotara River, by the Confiscation boundary-line produced, by the said line produced, and by Taranaki Land District; towards the north by the 39th parallel of south latitude; towards the east generally by the Taharua Stream and the Mohaka River to a point in line with Trig. Stations Nos. 68A and 65A, by a right line thence over Trig. Station No. 68A to Trig. Station No. 65A; thence towards the south by a right line to Trig. Station No. 26 (Taukeketewhango); thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 27; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 28; thence again towards the east by a right line to Trig. Station No. 24 (Te Rotete); thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 17; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 16; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 32; thence again towards the north by a right line in direction of Trig. Station No. 30 (Aorangi) to the Moawhango River; thence towards the south-east generally by that river and the Rangitikei River to the south-western boundary-line of the Awarua Block; thence by that boundary-line and by the summit of the range bearing Trig. Stations P and C, and by the summit of the western watershed of Porewa Stream, and by the summit which bears Okota and Tiriraukawa Trig. Stations to the last-mentioned trig. station; thence by the northern boundary of the block formerly known as Parae-karetu Block, and by Section No. 107, Block I., Ongo Survey District, by a road-line bounding Sections Nos. 105, 106, 51, 52, and 62, Block I., Ongo Survey District, by Section No. 56 of said Block I., Sections Nos. 57, 23, and 22 of Block V., Sections Nos. 27 and 28, and Tarakiki Block, of Block IX., Ongo Survey District; by the northern boundary-line of the block formerly known as the Rangitikei Block, and its production to the right bank of the Wangaehu River; thence by that river to the sea; and towards the south-west by the sea.
HUNTERVILLE DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the north-west generally by Native Reserve No. 127, Sections Nos. 20 and 21, Block XII., Wangaehu Survey District, Sections Nos. 12 and 58, Block VIII., Section No. 60, Block IV., by a road bounding Sections Nos. 62, 52, 51, 106, and 105, Block I., Ongo Survey District, and by Sections Nos. 104 and 103, Block XIII., Tiriraukawa Survey District; thence by the summit of the range bearing Trig. Station Tiriraukawa and Trig. Station Okota, by the summit of the western watershed of Porewa Stream, and by the summit of the range bearing Trig. Stations C and P to the Awarua Block; towards the north-east by that block; again towards the north-west by the right bank of the Rangitikei River and the right bank of the Moawhango River to where the latter river is intersected by a right line connecting Trig. Stations Nos. 32 and 30 (Aorangi), and by that line to Trig. Station No. 30; again towards the north-east by a right line in direction of the confluence of the Makarora River with the north branch of the Waipawa River to the summit of Ruahine Range; towards the east by the summit of that range; towards the south and south-east by the summit of the northern watershed of the Kawhatau River to a point due north of the confluence of that river with Pourangiki River, by a right line thence to that confluence, by a right line thence to Kawhatau No. 3 Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Wairaki Trig. Station; thence by a right line to the northern corner of Section No. 73, Block XIV., Hautapu Survey District, by said section, Sections Nos. 74 and 62, Block II., Apiti Survey District, to the southernmost corner of last-mentioned section; thence by a line along the summit of the range, and by the Kiwitea-Tapuae Road, passing Sections Nos. 3, 2, and 10, Block XII., and Sections Nos. 12, 19, and 13, Block XVI., Ongo Survey District; and towards the south generally by Section No. 188 of said Block XVI., Sections Nos. 300, 299, 298, 297, 296, 295, 294, 293, 292, 291, 290, and 289 of Block XV., Sections Nos. 288, 287, 286, 285, and 284, and by the southern boundaries of Sections Nos. 14, 13, and 12, and the southern boundary-line of a reserve, all of Block XIV., to the Rangitikei River; thence by a line across the said river, and by the Rangitikei River aforesaid, and by the northern boundary of the block formerly known as the Rangitikei Block.
PALMERSTON NORTH DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the north-west generally by the Oroua River to the northern boundary-line of Section No. 264, Block I., Pohangina Survey District; thence towards the south by that section and Section No. 265 of said block, by Sections Nos. 266 and 190, Block XIII., Apiti Survey District, and Section No. 189, Block XVI., Ongo Survey District; thence again towards the north-west generally by the western side of Kiwitea-Tapuae Road, passing Sections Nos. 13, 19
