Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.
SCHEDULE.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.
JOHN McKENZIE,
Minister of Lands.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
Survey District. Bounded towards the northward by a line drawn from the western corner of Section 3, Block XI., Takaka District, to Sub-trig. II.; towards the westward by the summit of the range, and thence by a leading spur to a point on the River Cobb about one mile from the junction of same with the River Takaka; towards the southward by the River Cobb; and towards the eastward by the River Takaka to the south-western boundary of Section No. 3, Block XI., Takaka District; and thence to the point of commencement.
Cash price, 7s. per acre.
A sum of money has been added to the price to cover the cost of roading without metalling.
The most suitable country for sheep is the slopes, not so steep as those within the limestone belt, well watered and easy of access from the Motueka side of the range. There is very little undergrowth, and the timber, principally a stunted red birch, is light. The land between Deep Creek and Horse-shoe Creek is fine grass-growing country, well watered, but with steep slopes in places, kiekie growing very thick in patches. The belt of country between the Takaka River and the dividing ridge between the Rivers Takaka and Cobb is very poor, with light bush and undergrowth of kiekie. The northern end of the block is accessible from Upper Takaka, and is distant twenty-four miles from the villages of Waitapu and Motueka respectively. The southern end is more readily approached via the Graham River Track from the latter village, from which it is distant twenty-two miles or thereabout.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.
JOHN McKENZIE,
Minister of Lands.
