HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the disbandment of the Waikari Rifle Rangers Volunteers (Dunedin), as from the 16th August, 1892.
The following gentlemen therefore cease to be officers in the New Zealand Volunteer Force, their commissions having lapsed under clause 51, Volunteer Regulations, 1889:—

THE following special order, made by the Eden Terrace Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER
MADE by the Eden Terrace Road Board, on the 23rd day of August, 1892, in pursuance of the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Road Boards Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1888,” amending the by-laws of the Eden Terrace Road Board relating to the waterworks of the Eden Terrace Road District, made by special order, on the 9th day of October, 1888, and hereinafter referred to as “the said by-laws.”
THE several sections of the said by-laws hereinafter mentioned shall be amended as follows:—
Section 5, non-consumers’ rate: The words “used as dwellings only” shall be struck out. Section 12, extraordinary supply: The word “manufacturer” shall be struck out, and the words “any person” shall be inserted in lieu thereof. Section 13: The words “at one shilling and sixpence per thousand gallons, but in no case shall the amount paid be less than would be charged for ordinary supply to the same premises,” shall be added to this section. Section 19: The word “stables” shall be struck out, and the word “horses” inserted in lieu thereof. Section 28: The whole of this section after the words “glass front” shall be struck out, and the following inserted in its place: “Locks, boxes, and all fittings and other materials used in connection with the said meters must be supplied by the Board, and all work or alterations shall be done by workmen employed by the said Board. The expense of such work or material, and the rent of meter then due, shall be paid by the intending consumer by meter prior to the water being turned on.”
The foregoing amendments to take effect from and after the 1st day of September, 1892.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly passed in accordance with the provisions of sections 75 and 76 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” on the 23rd day of August, 1892.

Special Orders made by the Kiwitea Road Board, County of Oroua.

THE following special orders, made by the Kiwitea Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDERS.
THAT a special rate of 1½d. in the pound be hereby struck over the whole of the rateable property within the Ongo Ward of the Kiwitea Road District (Crown and Native lands excepted), for the purpose of providing interest on a loan of £5,000, to be raised under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.” Also, that a special rate of 7½d. in the pound on the whole of the rateable property within the Sandon Special-settlement Block (Crown and Native lands excepted) be hereby struck, for the purpose of providing interest on a loan of £4,000, to be raised under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.” Such rates to be annually recurring for twenty-six years.
I certify that the above special orders were made by the Kiwitea Road Board on the 20th day of August, 1892, as required by the Road Boards Act.

Regulations for the Importation of Sheep into Queensland.—Notice No. 354.

THE following regulations, issued by the Governor of Queensland, are published for general information.

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Diseases in Sheep Acts, been pleased to make the following regulations for carrying into effect the provisions of the said Acts:—

Sheep arriving by sea from any Australasian Colony in respect of which it has been notified by Proclamation that no disease has existed therein during the two years preceding the date of such Proclamation shall be deemed to be in quarantine, but may be released therefrom without being dressed or disinfected, on fulfilment of the conditions hereinafter specified.

Such sheep shall not be landed unless it has been certified by an Inspector at the port of shipment that they are free from infection.

Such sheep must be conveyed from the port of embarkation to the port of debarkation in a vessel or vessels that have not during the three preceding months traded to any colonies or places other than those in respect of which it has been notified as aforesaid that no disease has existed therein during the said term.

Sheep shall not be landed which have been conveyed in or have been on board the same vessel with sheep or skins of sheep the produce of a colony not proclaimed free from disease as aforesaid.

The master of any vessel by which sheep are conveyed from a colony proclaimed free from disease as aforesaid shall, if required so to do, make a declaration containing such information as may be required relating to the matters aforesaid.

Any person who shall be guilty of any offence against these regulations shall be liable to a penalty of twenty pounds.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Salt.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 24th February, 1892.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of salt, exclusively either by evaporation of salt-water or from rock mined in the colony, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March, 1893.

Not more than £250 will be paid for salt manufactured in the North Island, and not more than £250 for salt manufactured in the South Island.

The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as each lot of 50 tons of salt is manufactured, on the certificate of an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the salt is of good marketable quality.
-
In the event of more than one person manufacturing the stated quantity of salt in the North or South Islands respectively before the 31st March, 1893, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus in either the North Island or the South Island, the amount will be divided, but in no case shall more than £250 be paid for salt manufactured in the North Island and £250 for salt manufactured in the South Island.
