Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf under the hereinbefore-mentioned contract or otherwise, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land defined and described in the Schedule hereto is set apart under the provisions of the said contract for bona fide mining purposes and the several purposes connected therewith.

SCHEDULE.

Block LXX.: All that area in the Land District of Nelson, situated in the Mawhera-iti and Ahaura Survey Districts, and containing 6,500 acres, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Native Reserve (Little Grey Junction), and proceeding along the south-western boundary of the said reserve to its south-eastern corner; thence along a right line to Trig Station F, Ahaura Survey District; thence along a right line drawn through the south-western corner of Block II., Ahaura Survey District, to the River Ahaura; thence along the northern bank of that river to the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 182, Square 122, Block I., Ahaura Survey District; thence along a line to the southern corner of Section No. 25, Block I., Ahaura Survey District, and along the south-eastern boundary of that section to a road; thence along a line across that road to the western corner of Section No. 109, Square 122; thence along the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of that section to a road; thence along a line and across that road to the south-western boundary of Section No. 18, Block I., Ahaura Survey District; thence along the said boundary and the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 193, Square 122, and 8 and 9, Block I., Ahaura Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundary-line of the said Section No. 9 to Orwell Creek; thence along a line across that creek and along south-eastern boundary of Section No. 10, Block I., to the north-eastern corner of that section; thence along a line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 32, Block I.; thence along the eastern boundary thereof, and along the southern, eastern, and northern boundaries of Section No. 35, and along the road between Sections Nos. 31 and 29 to the south-eastern corner of the latter section; thence along the eastern boundary of Section No. 29 to a road; thence along a line across the road which forms the northern boundary of the said section; thence along the said road to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 31, Block XIII., Mawhera-iti Survey District; thence along the eastern and northern boundaries thereof to road leading from Greymouth to Reefton; thence along that road to the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 73, Square 122, Block XIII., Mawhera-iti Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 73, 72, and 71, Square 122, south-westerly, and along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 9, 10, and 11, Block XIII., and 1, 8, and 7, Block XIV., Mawhera-iti Survey District, to the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 153, Square 122; and thence along the road to the place of commencement: excepting from the above-described area all freehold land, leasehold land, and reserves.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, the Administrator of the Government of Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of May, 1892.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS pursuant to an agreement made with the owner in fee-simple and the occupier of the land described in the Schedule hereto, the said land has been resumed for gold-mining purposes, and the amount of compensation as agreed upon has been paid:

Now, therefore, I, Sir James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby declare, in pursuance of the provisions of “The Mining Act, 1891,” that the said land has been resumed for mining purposes by Her Majesty.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 231 acres 3 roods 37 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 14 and 15, now known as Section No. 21, Block V., Kyeburn District. Bounded towards the north-east by Crown land, 4268·9 links; towards the east by Section No. 15 1458 and 370 links, by lines dividing Section No. 14 815 and 1379 links, and again by Section No. 15 1505·6 links; towards the south by Crown land, 4253·6 links; and towards the west by Crown land, 5975·2 links.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of May, 1892.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor in Council by Kipa te Whatanui, Turia Henare Roera, Paranihia Whawha, Karaitiana te Tupe, and Tauhu Roera, comprising a majority in number of the Native owners of the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the Crown grant, bearing date the third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has reported that the provisions of the law in that behalf have been complied with: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by “The Native Land Act, 1888,” and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.

Crown grant No. 6340, W. 32, page 180, dated the 3rd July, 1881, in favour of Paranihia Whawha and Kipa te Whatanui, and containing the following restriction: “Inalienable by sale, lease, or by mortgage, for a longer period than twenty-one years, without the consent of the Governor being previously obtained.” All that parcel of land in the Otaki District, containing 100 acres, and known as Muhunoa No. 4.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the eighth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act Amendment Act, 1888,” I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER MCDERMOTT,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under “The Post Office Act, 1881,” at Havelock, is authorised to take and receive statutory declarations under the two hundred and thirty-fourth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

As witness my hand, at Wellington, in the colony aforesaid, this sixteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.
