THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Alfredton Road Board, is published in accordance
with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT OF POLL.

RESULT of a poll taken on the 6th January, 1892, for a
loan of £300 for formation and bridging on Tawataia Road
(north end).

Number of voters on special roll, 16; number of votes,
16; number of voters in favour, 12; number of votes in
favour, 12; number of voters against, nil; number of
votes against, nil.

As a majority and votes given were in favour of the loan,
I hereby declare the loan carried.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Kohete Special Rating
District, taken on the 19th December, 1891, upon the fol-
lowing proposals, viz.: (1) To form, bridge, and culvert the
Kohete Road; (2) to borrow for such purpose the sum of
£150 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies’ Act,
1886;” (3) to lay aside all deferred-payment and perpetual-
lease moneys accruing to this road towards a fund to pay
the annual charges on such loan; (4) to strike, as collateral
security, a special rate of 3d. in the pound on all rateable
property within the district hereinafter mentioned; (5) to
constitute the Kohete Special Rating District, to comprise
the following lands, viz.: Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, Block VII.,
Section 29, Block II., and Section 50, Block III., Huiroa
Survey District:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, representing one vote each,
4; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 4.

I hereby declare the above proposal duly carried.

INNER ROUTE, TORRES STRAIT.—REEF EXTENDING FROM
TERN ISLET, NORTH-EAST COAST OF QUEENSLAND.

LIEUTENANT and Commander Pirie, H.M.S. “Paluma,”
reports that a reef which dries 3ft. in places at low-water
spring tides extends about three-quarters of a mile N.E. by
N. from Tern Island.

The outer extreme lies in the following position: Shad-
well Peak, S. 65° W., 1⁹⁄₁₀ miles; X Reef Beacon, N. 10° W.
5⁷⁄₁₀ miles. By keeping the point marked on chart No. 2354
“Remarkable red cliffs,” near Left Hill, just open of No.
II. point, S. by E., a vessel will pass nearly half a mile out-
side this danger. Bearings are magnetic. Chart affected,
No. 2354.

DANGER REPORTED IN LATITUDE 18° 44′ S. AND LONGITUDE
157° 02′ E.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 7th January, 1892.

MR. JOSEPH GOODMAN, master of the barquentine
“Ocean Ranger,” reports that, on the passage from
Townsville, North Queensland, to the Chesterfield Group,
he sighted a line of heavy breakers from two to three miles
long, stretching in a S.S.E. and N.N.W. direction; and
from observation by a good chronometer he places the
danger in latitude 18° 44′ S. and longitude 157° 02′ E., and
states that it bears from the north elbow of Bampton Shoal
W. ¼ N., distant eighty-four miles. Bearings magnetic.

INNER ROUTE, TORRES STRAIT.—BEACONS OFF PRINCESS
CHARLOTTE BAY.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or before the 31st March,
1892, the following alterations will be made, viz.: Black
beacon on g reef will be discontinued; red beacon on e
reef will be altered to a black square beacon; red beacon
on f reef will be altered to a black square beacon. The
route recommended passes between c reef and d reef, to
the southward of e reef, and to the westward of f reef.

Notice to Mariners, No. 3 of 1892.

ALTERATION IN RIVER BEACONS, WESTPORT.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 11th January, 1892.

THE Westport Harbour Board give notice that on and
after Monday, the 25th instant, the two leading river-
beacons on which the red lights are shown will be removed
from their present position on the eastern or town side of the
river to the western breakwater on the opposite side. These
lights will not show seaward, but will be seen by vessels
entering when well inside of the two breakwaters; and when
brought in line (astern) bearing N. 39° W. the course
should be altered so as to keep them so until the two green
lights up the river are in one, as heretofore.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this
purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and
Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul
the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the
reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused
without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof,
namely:—

Port of Poverty Bay.

The warehouse known as

DUNLOP’S BOND,

as appointed and described in Commissioner’s Order No. 236,
of the 11th day of March, 1886.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this first day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this
purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation
Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do
hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned warehouse
to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond,
namely:—

Port of Poverty Bay.

Portion of the cellar of a concrete building with iron roof,
situate on Section No. 28, Customhouse Street, Town of
Gisborne, to be known as
