Special Order made by Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, County of Wairarapa South.

THE following special order, made by the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER passed by the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board on the 23rd January, 1892.

THAT this Board now, by special order, do make and levy a special rate of thirty-three fortieths of a penny in the pound, annually recurring for twenty-six years from the present year, and payable on the 1st day of May in each such year, upon the properties comprised within the Kokotau Bridge Special Rating District, as hereinafter defined; such special rate being levied for the purpose of paying the annual charges and interest for twenty-six years upon a loan of £2,500 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of the Kokotau Bridge and roads connecting therewith.

The following is the above special rating district, viz.: All that area situate within the Taratahi-Carterton Road District, and enclosed within the following lines, that is to say: Commencing at the junction of the Pohaturiki Stream with the Ruamahanga River; thence along the boundary between the Taratahi-Carterton and Featherston Road Districts to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 36, Block VII., Huarangura Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 36 and 35, Block VII., Huarangura Survey District, and of Sections Nos. 34, 30, and 29, Block IV., same district, to the Mangahuia Stream, and along such stream to the public road through Section No. 2, Block IV., Huarangura Survey District; thence along such road to Section No. 5, Block IV., same district; thence along the southern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Makahaka Stream, and along such stream to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 22, Block IV., Huarangura Survey District; thence along the northern boundary-line of such last-mentioned section to Section No. 18, Block XVI., Tiffin Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary-line of such last-mentioned section and the eastern boundary-line of Section No. 16, Block XVI., Tiffin Survey District, to where it touches the southern boundary-line of Section No. 14, same block and district; thence along the southern boundary-line of such last-mentioned section to the south-western corner thereof; and thence along the western boundary-line of such last-mentioned section to the Ruamahanga River; thence following the Ruamahanga down in such manner as to include the Manoawhea Native Block to the point of commencement.

I certify that the above special order has been duly passed by the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, at a special meeting held the 23rd day of January, 1892.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Moa Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

PROPOSED LOAN, MOA ROAD DISTRICT.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Kupara Special Rating District, taken on the 23rd January, 1892, upon the following proposals, namely: (1.) To deviate, form, and improve the Kupara Road. (2.) To borrow for such purpose the sum of £240 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886.” (3.) To lay aside each year the sum of £12, accruing from deferred-payment and perpetual-lease revenue, to provide the charges on this loan. (4.) To pledge as collateral security a special rate of 3d. in the pound on all rateable property within the district hereinafter mentioned. (5.) To constitute the Kupara Special Rating District, to comprise the following lands, namely: Sections 47, 48, 52, 53, Block VI., and Sections 5, 6, Block VII., Huiroa Survey District:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, representing 1 vote each, 6; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 4.

I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.

BRISBANE. — POLLARD CHANNEL, INNER ROUTE APPROACH, AND SHOAL OFF CAPE BOWLING GREEN.

LIEUTENANT-COMMANDER PIRIE, H.M.S. “Paluma,” reports that the Erlangen Patch in the Pollard Channel consists of coral, and is about 550 yards in diameter. It rises abruptly from deep water, and can be seen a short distance off when the sun is in a favourable position. The least water found on it is 9ft. at low-water springs.
