RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN, NGATURI-AOHANGA ROAD.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 14th November, 1891, on a proposal to borrow £1,500, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for forming the Ngaturi-Aohanga Road from end of present formation to the junction of the Woodville-Aohanga Road:—

Number of ratepayers on roll 11, representing 14 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 8, representing 11 votes; number of votes not recorded, 3.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN, LOWER MAKURI VALLEY ROAD.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 10th November, 1891, on the proposal to borrow £1,200, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling the Lower Makuri Valley Road from the corner of Section 36, Block VIII., Makuri, to Makuri Bridge-site:—

Number of ratepayers on roll 23, representing 24 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 13, representing 14 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 1; votes not recorded, 8.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN FOR MANGAONE VALLEY ROAD.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 21st November, 1891, on a proposal to raise a loan of £1,200, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of completing the formation, bridging, and metalling the Mangaone Valley Road:—

Number of ratepayers on roll of special rating area 28, representing 30 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 19, representing 21 votes; votes unrecorded, 9.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN, MANGAHAO.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 14th November, 1891, on a proposal to borrow £1,000, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for clearing, forming, and bridges on roads: (1) Leading from crossing Mangahao River, at James Sinclair's, to Section 105, Block VI., Mangahao; (2) from junction of above road at Section 102 to Section 11, Block IX.; (3) from junction of last-mentioned road at Section 94, Block VI., to Section 2, Block VI.:—

Number of ratepayers on roll 38, representing 38 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 23; votes unrecorded, 15.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 14th November, 1891, on a proposal to borrow £700, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling Woodville-Tiraumea to Ngaturi Road:—

Number of ratepayers on roll 4, representing 4 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 2; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 2.

A majority not having voted in favour of the proposal, I declare it lost.

THE following is the result of a poll taken in the Masterton Road District on the 3rd June, 1891, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £300 for acquiring and partly forming the Upper Fernridge Road-extension:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll 4, representing 4 votes; number of ratepayers who voted in favour of the proposal 4, representing 4 votes.

As all the ratepayers on the special roll voted in favour of the proposal, I declare the same to be carried.

Fees for Measurements, Inspections, and Surveys under “The Shipping and Seamen's Act, 1877.”

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 304 of “The Shipping and Seamen's Act, 1877,” I, the Minister having charge of the Marine Department, do hereby determine that the fees set forth in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be paid in respect of the several measurements, inspections, and surveys set forth in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

(a.) MEASUREMENT OF TONNAGE.

FEES for this duty are chargeable in accordance with the following scale and regulations:—

Notes.

  1. The fees are to be charged on the gross register tonnage of the vessels measured.
  2. In the case of vessels measured under Rule 2 of “The Merchant Shipping Act, 1854,” the fee to be charged will be one-fourth of the fee applicable to the case in the above scale; but not less than 10s. is to be charged in any case. When a vessel previously measured under Rule 2 is re-measured under Rule 1 the fee to be charged is to be such as will make up, with the sum previously paid for measurement under Rule 2, the full fee applicable to the case in the above scale.
  3. In the case of alterations in a space or spaces on the upper deck or engine-room, the fee to be charged will be one-fifth of the fee in the above scale, according to the tonnage of the vessel; but not less than 10s. is to be charged in any case.

A fee of 10s. is to be charged in all cases of minor inspections (e.g., alteration of rig, port of registry, description of engines, &c.).
4. The fee paid in accordance with the above scale will cover any number of visits that the Surveyor may find it necessary to make before he is able to fill up the formula of tonnage and grant his certificate to enable a vessel to obtain registry. It will also cover the inspection of crew-spaces and lights and fog-signals if the Surveyor is able to make these inspec-
