Notice of Application to amend Specification.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 15th October, 1891.

A REQUEST to be allowed to amend the specification relating to the under-mentioned application has been received, and is open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within one month from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing, in duplicate, of opposition to the amendment, stating in such notice the particular grounds of his objection. A fee of 10s. is payable with such notice:—

No. 5018.—ALFRED ARDEN LYCETT, of Sydney, New South Wales, Salt Manufacturer. An invention for improved apparatus for the manufacture of salt.

The reason given for the proposed amendment is “to make the meaning of the specification clearer, without embracing anything more than is contained in the original specification.”

The particulars of the proposed amendment are as follows, viz.:—

  1. By striking out all the words constituting the first claim.

  2. By making the second claim the first, and altering the same by striking out the words “upper chamber or steam-dome” in lines 2 and 3 thereof, and inserting instead the words “consisting of a brine-chamber, a heater, and a steam-chamber or dome placed vertically one above the other, the upper chamber or steam-dome of the first compound evaporating-pan.”

  3. By making the third claim the second, and inserting the words “or steam-dome” between the words “chamber” and “of” in line 3 thereof.

  4. By making the fourth claim the third.

Notice of Application to amend Specification.

No. 5092.—WILLIAM HUTCHINS, of No. 257, Rathdowne Street, Carlton, near Melbourne, Victoria, Storeman. An invention for improved means for enabling window-sashes to be temporarily removed from their frames and reversed.

The reason given for the proposed amendment is “to make the meaning of the said specification clearer, without embracing anything more than is contained in the original specification.”

The particulars of the proposed amendment are as follows, viz.:—

  1. By inserting a comma in place of the fullstop after the word “screws” in line 19, and altering the capital letter “T” in the following word “The” to a small “t.”

  2. By inserting the following paragraph between lines 21 and 22, viz.: “My invention consists, secondly, in pivotally suspending or mounting the window-sashes at about their centres from the lower end of the sash-cords or lines, so that when removed from the window-frame they can be turned over or reversed.”

  3. By striking out the words “of a window-sash pivotally suspended or mounted” in lines 2 and 3 of the first claim, and inserting in place thereof the words “in making the lower half of the inner stop-bead and the lower half of the parting-bead on one side of the window removable, and in pivotally suspending or mounting the window-sash.”

  4. By inserting between the words “be” and “temporarily” in line 1 of the second claim the words “reversed after they have been,” and by striking out the words “and reversed” in line 2 of such claim.
