Vesting Control of the Taruheru Footbridge in Gisborne Borough Council.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient that the control and management of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should be vested in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and known as the Taruheru Footbridge, shall, from and after the first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Borough Council of Gisborne; and I do hereby fix and determine that the Borough Council of Gisborne shall itself provide out of its own funds the proportion of two-sixths of the total cost of maintaining the said bridge, and that each local body mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto shall respectively, from time to time, on demand in writing from the Borough Council of Gisborne, pay to the said Council the proportion of the total cost of maintaining the said bridge as set forth opposite the name of such local body respectively in such Second Schedule.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Taruheru River known as the Taruheru Footbridge, and the approaches on each side thereof, situated in the Borough of Gisborne, and abutting on Section No. 43 (Recreation Reserve), Township of Gisborne; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 13539, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Land District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
