Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 17th September, 1891.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the under-mentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing, in duplicate, of opposition to the grant of any such patent, stating in such notice the particular grounds of his objection. A fee of 10s. must accompany such notice:—

No. 5036.—8th June, 1891.—SAMUEL JOSEPH MACKIE, of 27, Chancery Lane, Middlesex, England, Civil Engineer, and HENRY HUGHES, of Hendre House, Coronation Road, Bristol, Somerset, England, Merchant. An invention for improvements in coding and transmitting telegrams and secret messages. (Specification, 15s.)

No. 5166.—31st August, 1891.—CHARLES McGILL, of Fortrose, Otago, New Zealand, Miner. An invention for removing the débris from mouth of suction-pipes. (Specification, 1s. 6d.; drawings, 7s. 6d.)

No. 5169.—3rd September, 1891.—CHARLES CUMMINGS, of No. 453, East Eleventh Street, Oakland, California, United States of America, Mechanical Engineer. An invention for improvements in, and relating to, apparatus for transmitting power by means of compressed air, and utilising said power in operating rock-drills and other machines. No. 5171.—4th September, 1891.—JAMES TROUP, of Christchurch, New Zealand, Ironfounder. An invention entitled “Troup’s Swing Oil-tin Stand.” (Specification, 2s.; drawings, 3s.)

No. 5172.—4th September, 1891.—EDWARD WADE PETHERICK, of Willis Street, Wellington, New Zealand, Architect. An invention for a fire-grating for fixing in open fireplaces, to be called “Petherick’s Patent Fire-grating.” (Specification, 2s.; drawings, 5s.)

No. 5173.—4th September, 1891.—DAVID EDWARDS, of Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Engineer. An invention for improvements in the mould-board and share of ploughs and cultivators. (Specification, 6s.; drawings, 10s.)

No. 5174.—4th September, 1891.—ROBERT MELVILLE SCOTT, of Balmain, near Sydney, New South Wales, Contractor. An invention for improvements in methods of, and apparatus for, removing harbour- and river-bars and shoals, and subaqueous sandbanks, and other deposits of a like nature, and preventing the formation of the same; for deepening and widening rivers, and cutting and clearing canals and like watercourses through sand, clay, earth, and similar formations; and for maintaining a channel in rivers, canals, races, and other watercourses. No. 5175.—4th September, 1891.—EDWARD WATERS, of No. 131, William Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Patent Agent. An invention for an improved detachable shoe for railway-carriage brakes (being a communication from Thomas Milburn, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Manufacturer, Assignee of J. J. Lappin). No. 5176.—4th September, 1891.—EDWARD WATERS, of No. 131, William Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Patent Agent. An invention for an improved article of manufacture to be used as a substitute for wall-paper, flooring, and other ornamental coverings (being a communication from Hugh Silver, of Lindsay, Victoria, Ontario, Canada, Merchant).
