Appointing Day for Meeting of Karioi Licensing Committee
in lieu of Annual Meeting, &c.
ONSLOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of August, 1891.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Clerk of the Karioi Licensing Committee
did, by inadvertence, appoint the annual meeting of
the said Committee to be held on the twenty-seventh day of
June last, instead of during the first ten days of the said
month, as by law required: And whereas on the said
twenty-seventh day of June the said Committee met, but, in
consequence of the insufficiency of notice given by applicants
and otherwise, no licenses or renewals of licenses were
granted at such meeting: And whereas the Returning
Officer appointed for the said Karioi District has failed to
appoint the days for the quarterly meetings of the said Com-
mittee, in accordance with section forty of “The Licensing
Act, 1881” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”): And
whereas it appears expedient to provide for the granting of
licenses, and to make provision for holding the necessary
quarterly meetings of the said Licensing Committee:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority conferred by section two hundred and twenty-
seven of the said Act, and acting with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that a meeting of the said Karioi Licensing
Committee shall be held at noon, on the twenty-eighth day of
September next, at the hour of twelve o’clock noon, in lieu
of the annual meeting so irregularly appointed to be held as
aforesaid. And it is hereby further ordered that the business
to be conducted at such meeting shall be such as would in
the usual course of affairs be transacted at the usual annual
meeting of such Committee, and that notices in relation
thereto shall be given accordingly.
And in exercise of the like power and authority, and with
the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His Excellency
doth hereby further order and declare that the quarterly
licensing meetings of the said Karioi Licensing Committee
shall be held at the times and place set forth in the Schedule
hereto.

Native Licensing District abolished.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of August, 1891.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, by
Order in Council, may from time to time alter the limits of
any Native licensing districts or abolish the same: And
whereas it is expedient to abolish the Native Licensing District of Kirikiri:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance
and exercise of all powers enabling him in this behalf, and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of New Zealand, doth hereby abolish, from and after the
twenty-seventh day of August instant, the said Native
Licensing District of Kirikiri.

Poverty Bay Subdivision of Napier Sheep District exempted
from Wool-branding Sheep, under Section 67, “Sheep
Act, 1890.”—Notice No. 327.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of August, 1891.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, signed by a majority of the
owners of sheep in the Poverty Bay Subdivision of the Napier
Sheep District (representing the ownership of not less than
two-thirds of the total number of sheep in the said subdivision), requesting that such subdivision may be exempted
from the operation of section sixty-seven of “The Sheep
Act, 1890:” And whereas it appears expedient to grant the
prayer of the said petition:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred by “The Sheep Act, 1890” (hereinafter termed
“the said Act”), and acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order and declare that the Poverty Bay Subdivision
of the Napier Sheep District, as defined under the said Act,
shall be exempt from the operation of section sixty-seven of
the said Act; and it is hereby declared that this Order in
Council shall come into force upon the publication thereof
in the New Zealand Gazette.
