Proposed Addition to Borough of Birkenhead, County of Waitemata.

A PETITION having been presented to His Excellency the Governor praying that the district described in the Schedule hereto might be incorporated into the Borough of Birkenhead, His Excellency directs it to be notified that, unless within two months from the publication hereof a petition or petitions, as required by section 32 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” is or are presented to His Excellency, he will proceed to incorporate the said district into the said Borough of Birkenhead.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land situated in the Parish of Takapuna, County of Waitemata, containing by admeasurement 209 acres and 24 perches or thereabouts, and bounded towards the east by the eastern boundary of Section 57, Allotments 1, 2, and 3 of the Parish of Takapuna; thence partly towards the north by a Government road, and crossing the junction of the Great North Road; thence again towards the east by the eastern side of the Great North Road; thence again towards the north and east by an irregular line along part of a road running through Allotment 121; thence again towards the north by a triangular allotment fronting the last-mentioned road, such triangular allotment being part of a subdivision of Allotment 121; thence by Allotments 7, 8, 10, and 11 of the said subdivision to a Government road, and crossing the same and running along the south-eastern boundary of Section 127; and thence by the present boundary of the Borough of Birkenhead to the point of commencement.

COOK STRAIT.—ENTRANCE TO QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND.

NOTICE is hereby given that a sunken rock, with only 1ft. of water on it at low-water spring-tides, exists south-east of the White Rocks, at the entrance to Queen Charlotte Sound, distant sixty-seven fathoms, and with the north-east extreme of the White Rocks in line with the extreme of Jackson’s Head, bearing N.W. ⅓ N. magnetic.

NEW HEBRIDES.—REPORTED SHOAL OFF MALLICOLO.

NOTICE is hereby given that Captain Munroe, of the s.s. “Croydon,” reports that in June last his vessel, drawing 8ft. 6in. of water, touched on a small coral patch, which is not marked on the Admiralty Chart. The danger lies with the following compass-bearings taken from the ship: N.W. end Mallicolo, W. by S.; Vao Island, S.W. by W.; Walo Island, S.
