A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and sixty-sixth
section of “The Land Act, 1885,” and the fourteenth section
of “The Land Acts Amendment Act, 1888,” I, William
Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby set apart the lands enumerated in the
Schedule to an Order in Council of even date herewith, and
made under the one hundred and sixty-seventh section of
the said Act, for sale as village settlements, upon such terms
and conditions as are set forth in the said Order in Council.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow,
of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West
Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley,
of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this sixteenth day of June, in the year of

Proclaiming Borough of Richmond, County of Waimea,
under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,”
the Governor is empowered, by Proclamation, to
declare any portion of the Colony of New Zealand to be a
borough under the said Act from and after a day to be
named in such Proclamation:

Now, therefore I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the district
described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same is
hereby constituted as from the first day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one, a borough under the said Act.

And I do further proclaim and declare that the name
of such borough shall be the Borough of Richmond, and
that the boundaries thereof shall be those described in the
Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Nelson, situate
in the Waimea Survey District, bounded towards the
north-west by the north-western side of the road which
forms the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 160,
162, 164, 166, and 168 respectively of Block VI., and by the
south-eastern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section
produced across a road to Section No. 214; thence towards
the south-west by the north-eastern side of the said road to
Section No. 213 of the said Block VI.; thence again towards
the north-west by the said Section No. 213 and its south-
eastern boundary-line produced to Tasman Bay; thence
towards the north-east by Tasman Bay to a point in line
with the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 78,
Block VII.; thence again towards the north-east by a right
line to the westernmost corner of the said Section No. 78;
then by the north-eastern side of the road which forms
the south-western boundary of that section to the southern-
most corner of Section No. 78 aforesaid; thence by a right
line across a road to the westernmost corner of Section No.
71; thence by the north-eastern side of the road which
forms the south-western boundaries of said Section No. 71
and Sections Nos. 72 and 94 respectively to the southern-
most corner of the last-mentioned section; thence towards
the south-east by a right line to the easternmost corner of
Section No. 93; and thence by the south-eastern boundary-
lines of Sections Nos. 93, 92, 91, 90, and 89 respectively of
the said Block VII. to the southernmost corner of the last-
mentioned section; thence again towards the south-west by
the north-eastern side of the road fronting Section No. 85;
again towards the south-east by the north-western side of
the road fronting the said Section No. 85 and Section No.
64; and again towards the south-west by the north-eastern
side of the road fronting Sections Nos. 34, 33, 20, 19, 110,
and 111 to the westernmost corner of Section No. 108; and
thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of Section
No. 160 aforesaid.

Proclamations declaring Rivers and their Tributaries in the Provincial District of Westland to be Watercourses revoked.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by two Proclamations bearing date respectively the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the nineteenth day of March then instant, the several rivers in the Provincial District of Westland specified in the Schedules A and B hereto were, with their respective tributaries, declared to be watercourses for the purposes of section one hundred and fifty-four of “The Mining Act, 1886:” And whereas in and by the said recited Proclamations the twenty-fourth day of June instant was prescribed as the day whereon the said Proclamations should respectively take effect: And whereas objections have been made to the said Proclamations, and it now appears expedient to revoke the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by “The Mining Act, 1886,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby revoke the said two recited Proclamations of the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, so published as aforesaid; and do hereby declare that neither of the said Proclamations shall come into force or have any operation, and that the several rivers and their tributaries specified in the Schedules A and B hereto shall be and remain as if the said Proclamations had not been issued.


SCHEDULE A.

  1. THAT river known as the Hokitika River, which flows generally north-westerly, from its source in the Southern Alps, for a distance of about forty-three miles, to the ocean; and also the several tributaries thereof.

  2. That river known as the Totara River, which flows generally north-westerly, from its source near Bald Hill, for a distance of about seventeen miles, to the ocean; and also the several tributaries thereof.


SCHEDULE B.

  1. THAT river known as the Mikonui River, which flows westerly, from its source east of Bald Hill, for a distance of about eighteen miles, to the ocean; and also the several tributaries thereof.

  2. That river known as the Waitaha River, which flows westerly, from its source in the Waitaha Glacier, for a dis-
