Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the North
Island Main Trunk Railway from a Point at or near
Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumarunui, and
the Ongaruhu River Valley (Mangaonoho Section).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the North Island Main Trunk Railway,
from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via
Murimotu, Taumarunui, and the Ongaruhu River Valley, is
one of the railways specified in the Schedule to "The Rail-
ways Authorisation Act, 1884," which Act is, in the eighth
section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorising the
construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished,
and it has been determined to construct and maintain a
further portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by
the aforesaid section eight of "The Railways Authorisation
Act, 1884," and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine
and one hundred and thirty of "The Public Works Act,
1882," and in exercise of every other power and authority in
anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the middle line of the said further portion of
the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the
Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point on the North Island Main Trunk
Railway 18 miles 31 chains from the junction of said rail-
way with the Foxton-New Plymouth Railway, the said point
being the termination of a portion of the said line of rail-
way, as described in a Proclamation dated the 31st July,
1885, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 47, of
the 6th August, 1885; proceeding thence generally in a
north-easterly direction for a distance of 3 miles 70 chains,
passing in, into, through, or over the following lands, situated
in Ongo Survey District, Provincial District of Wellington,
namely: Sections Nos. 12 and 11, Block II.; Subdivision
No. 2 of Otairi No. 3, and Sections Nos. 6 and 5, Block III.;
and terminating at a point in the said Subdivision No. 2 of
Otairi No. 3 distant about 2200 links in a north-westerly
direction from the northern corner of Section No. 2, Block
III., Ongo Survey District aforesaid; and including all
adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, reserves,
streams, rivers, and watercourses; all in the Provincial
District of Wellington and Colony of New Zealand: in the
manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 16695, in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, a
copy of which is deposited in the office of the Registrar of
the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the said Provincial
District of Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Govern-
ment House, at Wellington, this third day of
January, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one.

to Hokitika Railway: Part of Kapitea Section.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the middle line of the Greymouth to Hokitika
Railway (main portion) was defined by a Proclama-
tion dated the eleventh day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-nine, issued under the provisions of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Immigration
and Public Works Appropriation Act, 1878," and published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 67, of the nineteenth day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine: And
whereas the Greymouth-Hokitika Railway is one of the
railways in the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act,
1879," which Act is declared to be a special Act authorising
the construction of such railway, and such railway is un-
finished, and it has been determined to construct and main-
tain a further portion (Kapitea Section) of the same: And
whereas it has been found to be necessary for the construc-
tion of part of such further portion to alter a part of the
said middle line of railway so defined as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by
section seven of "The Public Works Act, 1879," and by
sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
