Nelson Prison ceased to be a Prison.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Prisons Act, 1882," it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, declare that any prison shall no longer be a prison; and upon the gazetting of such Proclamation, or from and after any later date fixed in such Proclamation for the purpose, such prison shall cease to be a prison:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that from and after the gazetting of this Proclamation the prison at Nelson, in the Provincial District of Nelson, shall cease to be a prison.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley, of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this fifth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one.

Vesting Control of the Kaupokonui Traffic Bridge in Hawera County Council.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section four of "The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient that the control and management of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should be vested in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Kaupokonui Traffic Bridge, shall, from and after the twenty-fifth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Hawera County Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that the Hawera County Council shall itself provide out of its own funds the whole cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge.
SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Kaupokonui River known as the Kaupokonui Traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof, situated on Eltham Road, near Kaponga Township, all in Hawera County, Provincial District of Taranaki; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12673A, deposited in the General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the ninety-seventh section of "The Land Act, 1885," it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any Crown lands within any mining district, not held under license or lease at the date of such Proclamation, or over which the license or lease has been cancelled, to be open for sale or selection, in sections of such size and form, and on such date, as he may determine; and any land so proclaimed may hereafter be sold at a like price, and subject to the like terms and conditions, or as near thereto as may be, as Crown lands of the same class not within a mining district; and the Governor may from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land specified in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection under the provisions of the third section of "The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887," after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days from the date hereof, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the prices per acre stated in the said Schedule.
