ONSLOW, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “ The Licensing Act,
1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as
soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the
said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time
define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act,
and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries
of the same: And whereas it is expedient to alter and
redefine the boundaries of the Districts of West Hawks-
bury, Hawksbury, and Merton:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in
me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the
said districts, which shall henceforth be those described in
the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
WEST HAWKSBURY.
All that area known as the Borough of Hawksbury, as de-
scribed in the Second Schedule to a Proclamation published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 54, 24th September, 1885.
HAWKSBURY.
All that area in Waikouaiti County bounded towards the
north-west and north-east generally by Waihemo County;
towards the south-east by the ocean; towards the south-west
by the Waikouaiti River and the north branch thereof to a
point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Pre-
emptive Right Section No. 1, Hummockside Survey District;
thence by a right-line to the north-eastern boundary-line of
that pre-emptive right section; thence by that boundary-
line and by Section No. 5, Block IV., Hummockside Survey
District, and Sections Nos. 8 and 4 of the said Block IV.
to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section;
thence again towards the south-east by the said Section
No. 4 to Run No. 171A; thence again towards the south by
the said Run No. 171A and Run No. 171B to Taieri County;
and again towards the south-west by the said Taieri County:
exclusive of the Borough of Hawksbury.
MERTON.
All that area in Waikouaiti County bounded towards the
north and north-east by West Hawksbury Licensing District,
hereinbefore described; towards the south-east by the ocean
and Blueskin Bay; towards the south by Block II., North
Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, to the north-western
corner of that block; thence by a line due west to the south
branch of the Waikouaiti River; thence towards the north-
west by the said south branch to the northern boundary-line
of Block IX., Waikouaiti Survey District; thence again
towards the south by the said Block IX. and Block X.,
Waikouaiti Survey District, and Block V., Silverpeak Survey
District, to Taieri County; and thence towards the south-
west by the said Taieri County.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at Auckland, this fifth day of
May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.

A PROCLAMATION.
COLONY OF NEW ZEALAND,]
TO WIT.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New
Zealand intituled “ The Prisons Act, 1882,” it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation published
in the Gazette, declare that such police-stations as he shall
name therein shall be police-gaols:
And whereas it is desirable to proclaim the police-station
at Nelson, in the Provincial District of Nelson, to be a
police-gaol:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare
that the said building shall be a police-gaol from and after
the appearance of this Proclamation in the Gazette.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
