Vesting Control of Arnold Bridge in Grey County Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation :

And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described :

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the
bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as
the Arnold Bridge, shall, from and after the thirtieth day
of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of
the Grey County Council; and I do hereby fix and deter-
mine that the Grey County Council shall itself provide out
of its own funds eleven-twentieths of the cost of managing
and maintaining the said bridge; and that the Borough
Council of Brunnerton shall, on demand in writing from
the said Grey County Council, pay to the said Council from
time to time nine-twentieths of the cost of managing and
maintaining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

That bridge over the Arnold River known as the Arnold
traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof,
situated on the main line of road leading from Greymouth
to Reefton, and adjacent to Reserve No. 100, Mawheranui
Survey District, County of Grey, Provincial District of
Nelson, and to Native Reserve No. 84, Arnold Survey Dis-
trict, Borough of Brunner, Provincial District of Westland ;
as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12643,
deposited in the General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon marked red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of

Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at Wellington, this sixteenth
day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one.

Proclaiming the Taking and Laying-off of a Road over
Land in the Otago Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

In pursuance and in exercise of all powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, I, William Hillier, Earl of
Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim that the road described in the Schedule
hereto has been duly taken and laid off through the land
specified, under warrant of the date given, in the said Sche-
dule.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 36 perches, more or
less, situate in Block IX., Glenomaru Survey District, being
a road, 100 links wide, traversing Section No. 30, the western
side of which commences at a point on the northern
boundary-line of the said Section No. 30 1789·2 links from
the north-eastern corner of that section; and proceeds in a
southerly direction for a distance of 1584·4 links along a line
bearing S. 14° 39′ 30″ E., and thence for a distance of 2143
links along a line bearing S. 1° 10′ W. to the road at the
southern boundary of Section No. 30 aforesaid : be the afore-
said linkages more or less ; as the same is delineated on plan
marked S.G. 9107, deposited in the Survey Office, at Dunedin,
