Native Land proposed to be taken for a Lighthouse on Stephen Island.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of February, 1891.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of a lighthouse and other works in connection therewith:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the public work hereinbefore mentioned shall and may be constructed on the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land containing 370 acres or thereby, situated at the northern entrance to Cook Strait, and lying in a north-eastern direction from Cape Stephens, D’Urville Island, being the whole of that island commonly known as Stephen Island or Takaporewa; which said Island of Takaporewa is one of the islets enumerated in the description and delineated on the plan embodied in certificate of title No. 52, dated the 20th November, 1883, issued by the Native Land Court of New Zealand, at a Court held at Nelson, in the Provincial District of Nelson, on the said 20th November, 1883; all in the D’Urville Survey District, in the said Provincial District of Nelson: as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 16720, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of February, 1891.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the reserves made for public recreation in the Provincial District of Auckland, and known as the Cambridge Recreation-grounds, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the same are hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of “The Public Domains Act, 1881;” and such domain shall hereafter be managed, administered, and dealt with, in manner directed by the said Act, by the Domain Board constituted by an Order in Council issued on the fourteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Allotment No. 578 of the Town of Cambridge East, and containing by admeasurement 1 acre 3 roods 8 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Allotments Nos. 349, 350, 351, and 352 of the Town of Cambridge East, 1000 links; towards the east by Bowen Street, 117 links; towards the south generally by Thornton Road, 290 links and 820 links; and towards the west by Grosvenor Street, 140 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Also all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Allotment No. 579 of the Town of Cambridge East, and containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 30 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Allotments Nos. 353, 354, 355, 356, 357, and 358, of the Town of Cambridge East, 1325 links; towards the south-east and south generally by Thornton Road, 278 links, 270 links, 865 links, and 102 links; and towards the west by Bowen Street, 70 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Nelson.

ONSLow, Governor.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is a reserve for Provincial Government purposes, and is a reserve in Class I. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and such land has not been vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustees: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the purpose of such reserve shall be appropriated to recreation purposes:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the second section of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1889,” do, by this notification, hereby declare that the said reserve shall, from and after the day of the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be appropriated for the purposes of recreation under Class III. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881.”

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land in the Land District of Nelson, containing by admeasurement 10 acres 2 roods, be the same more or less, being part of Section No. 10, Waimea South, Wai-iti Survey District, and bounded as follows: On the north-eastward by part of Section No. 155, Waimea South; on the south-eastward and southward by an overflow channel of the River Wai-iti; and on the westward and north-westward by the River Wai-iti: excepting and excluding roads and railway reserves.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one.

ONSLow, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the two hundred and twenty-eighth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said two hundred and twenty-seventh section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the warrants the dates of which are specified in the third column of the said Schedule, and the notifications of which were published in the Gazette
