Powers delegated to the Timaru Road Board under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

ONSLOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, 1891.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council dated the fifth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Timaru Public Domain Board, namely,—

WILLIAM EVANS,
JAMES HUTCHINSON SUTTER,
DAVID STUART,
ROBERT H. FERGUSON,
WILLIAM GUNN, and
THOMAS HENDERSON

(hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the first Monday in each month, at three o’clock p.m., at Timaru, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the second day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 102, situate in the suburbs of Timaru. Bounded towards the north by the other portion of said Reserve No. 102; towards the east by a road along the beach; towards the south by Abattoir Reserve; and towards the west by Suburban Section No. 1702.

Notification that Her Majesty has relinquished Negotiations for the Acquisition of Native Land at Piako, Thames.

ONSLOW, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1877,” and “The Government Native Land Purchases Act Amendment Act, 1878,” it is hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has relinquished negotiations in respect of the block of Native land in the North Island which is more particularly described and mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
PIAKO.

ALL that block of land containing by estimation 200,000 acres, known generally by the name of Piako, situated in the District of Thames, and more particularly described in a notification under “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1877,” published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 44, of the 16th May, 1878, page 600; save and excepting the several parcels heretofore acquired in freehold by the Crown: as shown on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, Canterbury, and Otago.

ONSLOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, Canterbury, and Otago, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.

ALL that parcel of land in the Land District of Auckland, being Section No. 89 of the Parish of Onewhero, containing by admeasurement 24 acres 3 roods 2 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the south-east by a public road, 1971 links; towards the south-west by a public road, 2513 links; and towards the north-west by a public road, 3193 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For primary education.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Auckland, being Allotment No. 265 of the Town of Mangonui, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 3 roods 33 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north by a public road running along the foreshore of Mangonui Harbour; towards the east by Allotment No. 15 of the Town of Mangonui aforesaid, 258 links; towards the south-east by Allotments Nos. 26 and 25 of the said Town of Mangonui, 430 links; and towards the south-west generally by a public road, 801, 147, and 378 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For recreation.

TARANAKI.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 475 acres, more or less, being Section No. 7, Block VIII., Waitara Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by Sections Nos. 6 and 14, 8019·6 links; on the east by a road, by Section No. 9 229 links, and by a road 5410·5 links; on the south by Section No. 11, 7088·2 links; and on the west by a road and Section No. 74, 5605·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, New Plymouth. For primary education.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 254 acres, more or less, being Section No. 1, Block XVI., Waitara Survey District. Bounded on the north by Crown land, 4421 links; on the east by Section No. 2, 8253 links; on the south by a road, 3752·1 links; and on the west by the boundary of Block XVI., 5888 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, New Plymouth. For primary education.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 320 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2, Block XVI., Waitara Survey District. Bounded on the north by Crown land, 4588·5 links; on the east by Section No. 3, 9034·8 links; on the south by a road, 4188·1 links; and on the west by Section No. 1, 8253 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, New Plymouth. For primary education.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 317 acres, more or less,
