Description of Land: Situated some eleven miles from Waikawa Township; land partially bush-clad, undulating; quality ranging from pastoral to fair agricultural, averaging some three miles from formed road.

Description of Land: Situated on or near east bank of Waikawa River, averaging seven miles from Waikawa Harbour and three-quarters of a mile from formed road; sections largely covered with light birch and manuka, and red-pine in places. Portions of Sections 6, 7, and 8 are river-flat land, remainder of sections consisting of ridges ranging from flattish to steep.

Rural Lands in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.

ONSLow, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection, after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

UNSURVEYED LAND.—FIRST AND SECOND CLASS.

North Puketoi Block.

ALL that parcel of land containing about 13,000 acres, called or known by the name of the North Puketoi Block, situated in the Pahiatua County, in Blocks II., III., V., VI., and XVI., Makuri Survey District. Bounded towards the north by the Hawke’s Bay Land District; towards the east by Crown lands; towards the south by the Woodville-Aohanga and the Waewaepa Roads; and towards the west by the Woodville-Tiraumea Special-settlement Block.

Cash price, 17s. 6d. to £2 per acre; deferred-payment price (one-fourth more than the cash price), £1 1s. 10½d. to £2 10s. per acre; and perpetual-lease rental (5 per cent. on the cash price), 10½d. to 2s. per acre.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Black Swans to cease to be Game.

ONSLow, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, black swans (Cygnus atratus) shall cease to be within the operation of the said Acts within the Colony of New Zealand.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety.
