A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Census Act, 1877,” it is provided that an account shall be taken in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one of the number and condition of persons, and of the live stock, and of the land in cultivation within New Zealand, and of other particulars relating thereto; and that after the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one such account shall be taken in every fifth year succeeding: And whereas by the said Act, as amended by “The Census Act Amendment Act, 1890,” it is enacted that such account may be taken on any day or days not being later than the thirtieth day of April, as the Governor shall, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, appoint:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the authority in me vested by the said Acts, do hereby proclaim and declare that such account shall be taken in the month of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, on Monday the sixth day of the said month, and for the night of Sunday, the fifth day of the aforesaid month.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley, of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Rectifying Description of Waimate Riding, County of Hawera.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by warrant under my hand, bearing date the twenty-seventh day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, the ridings in the County of Hawera, including the Riding of Waimate, were altered and redefined: And whereas an error has occurred in the description of the boundaries of the said Riding of Waimate, and it is expedient to rectify the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Riding of Waimate, in the County of Hawera, shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto, in lieu of those defined in the said recited warrant of the twenty-seventh day of October last; and it is hereby declared that this Proclamation, and the rectification hereby made, shall take effect upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
WAIMATE Riding is bounded towards the east and north generally by Stratford County; towards the east by the Waingongoro; towards the south by the sea; and towards the north-west by Taranaki County.
