At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of November, 1890.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the seventy-fourth section of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” it is enacted that, when any accidental or unavoidable impediment, misfeasance, or omission happens, the Governor in Council may take all such measures as may be necessary for removing or rectifying the same:
And whereas by the Governor’s warrant appointing polling-places for the various electoral districts within the colony, which was dated the fifth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, the Public Hall, Mareretu, was appointed amongst the polling-places thereby fixed for the Marsden Electoral District: And whereas Mr. Hewlett’s House, Mareretu, is the place which should have been so appointed, instead of the said public hall: And whereas it is expedient that such appointment should now be properly made:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, in pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said above-recited section, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby order and declare that Mr. Hewlett’s House, Mareretu, shall be a polling-place for the Marsden Electoral District, in lieu of the Public Hall, Mareretu.

Inland Parcel Post Regulations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of November, 1890.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section eleven of “The Post Office Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations, inter alia, for the following purposes, or any of them, namely: Prescribing the rates to be paid for the carriage or conveyance of parcels, but so that all such rates shall be prepaid in postage-stamps: And whereas by an Order in Council issued on the twenty-third day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, certain regulations were made, under the authority of the said Act, prescribing, inter alia, the rates of postage for inland parcels: And whereas it appears expedient to revoke such rates and to prescribe other rates in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby revoke the rates of postage hitherto prescribed for the postage of inland parcels, and so much of the said recited Order in Council as relates to such rates, and in lieu thereof do hereby make and prescribe the regulations contained in the Schedule hereto; and do hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on and after the first day of December next.

Polling-place, City of Wellington Electoral District, changed.
ONSLOW, Governor.
WHEREAS a writ has been issued for the election of three members of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of the City of Wellington, and for the purposes of such election the Volunteer Drill-shed was appointed a polling-place:
And whereas the said building is not available as a polling-place, and it has been made to appear that the election cannot be held without a change of polling-place being made:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the sixth section of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” and being satisfied that the polling-place hereinafter mentioned is more convenient than any other for at least twenty electors to record their votes thereat, do hereby, for the purposes of the said election, appoint the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Wellington to be a polling-place, in lieu of the Volunteer Drill-shed.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety.
