England, Engineer. An invention for improvements in or
applicable to the wheels of carts, wagons, tram-cars, and
other vehicles, to prevent the vehicle running back down an
incline.

No. 4670.—GEORGE FRASER, of Auckland, New Zealand,
Engineer. An invention for the more effectually saving gold
and silver from the raw ore or from tailings, by the introduc-
tion of a silent central overflow for grinding- and amalga-
mating-pans or mills and settlers. The invention to be
known as "Fraser's Improved Silent Central Overflow."

No. 4671.—FREDERICK PETERSEN, of Union Street, Dun-
edin, Otago, New Zealand, Engineer. An invention for im-
provements in dredging-machinery.

No. 4672.—FREDERICK WALTER PAGE, of Chertsey, Canter-
bury, New Zealand, Labourer. An invention for coiling and
running out of fencing-wire, ropes, and other materials of a
similar kind, to be called "Page and Reid's Wire-coiling and
Running-out Machine."

Crown Lands Notices.

Public Reserve for Lease.

Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 26th September, 1890.

I T is hereby notified, in terms of "The Public Reserves
Act, 1881," that the lease of the under-mentioned
section will be offered at public auction, at the Crown Lands
Office, Wellington, on Thursday, the 20th day of November,
1890, at noon.

Plan and form of lease can be seen and particulars
obtained at this office.

The term of the lease will be seven years.

No allowance whatsoever shall be payable on account of
improvements effected by the lessee.

A deposit of a half-year's rent and £1 11s. lease-fee must
be deposited on the fall of the hammer.

SCHEDULE.

SECTION 22, Block IV., Mikimiki District, 4 acres 1 rood.
Upset rental per annum, 10s.

Description of Land: This section is situated on the west
side of the Ruamahanga River, about fifteen miles from
Masterton, at the head of the Opaki Plain, at Mole's Corner,
and comprises stony flat land of fair quality, covered with
mixed bush.

Reserves for Leasing.

N OTICE is hereby given that tenders for the right to
occupy the under-mentioned Crown lands for grazing
purposes only, without any right of cropping, will be received
at this office up to Monday, the 10th November, 1890.
Every tender must be accompanied by a post-office order or
marked cheque for ten and a half months' rent to the 1st
October, 1891, at the rate tendered. No compensation for
improvements will be given at expiration of tenancy :—

Reserve 282, and part of old Railway Reserve adjoining the
Rangitata River, estimated to contain 20 acres. Upset
annual rental, £1. Subject to right of road up to river.
Yearly tenancy.

Village reserve on south side of railway, two and a half
miles south-west of Rangitata Station, 85 acres. Upset
annual rental, £4 5s. License subject to six months' notice,
and renewable from year to year for five years if the land is
not required by Government for any purpose.

Reserves for Leasing.

N OTICE is hereby given that tenders for the occupation
for grazing purposes only, without the right of
cropping, of the under-mentioned lands, will be received at
this office up to 5 p.m. on Monday, the 10th November, 1890.
The licenses will be annually renewed by the Land Board
for a period of seven years, unless the land is required by
Government for any purpose, but will be terminated on six
months' notice if required for the purpose of granting to the
Midland Railway Company or being otherwise dealt with.
Every tender must be accompanied by marked cheque or
post-office order for four and a half months' rent to the 1st
April, 1891, at the rate tendered :—

Reserves 158 and 2016, Hurunui, Lots 3 and 4, 89 acres
3 roods 18 perches. Upset annual rental, £11 14s. 6d.

Reserve 360, adjoining railway between Bennett's and
Oxford, 13 acres 3 roods 6 perches. Upset annual rental,
£1 14s. 6d.

Plantation Reserve in Reserve 2331, West Oxford, 30 acres
1 rood 22 perches. Upset annual rental, £3.

Forfeited Deferred-payment Lands.

I T is hereby notified, in terms of the Land Acts, that the
under-mentioned sections will be offered at auction, for
selection on deferred payments, at the Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, on Thursday, the 20th November, 1890, at noon.
Plans and particulars can be obtained at this office.

A deposit of one-twentieth of the purchase-money, together
with £1 1s. license-fee, and the stated value of the improve-
ments, if any, must be deposited on the fall of the hammer,
and the selector shall make the statutory declaration re-
quired under the deferred-payment system.

All sections unsold at the auction will be withdrawn till
further notice.

terton-Hawera Special-settlement Block, at the junction of
the Tutaekara and Central Roads, about two and a half
miles from Tutaekara Post-office, and comprises hilly mixed
bush land of good quality.

Description of Land: This section is situated in the west-
ern corner of the Wellington Special-settlement Block No.1,
on the banks of the Mangatainoka River, about eight miles
from Eketahuna, and comprises flat and hilly mixed bush
land of good quality.

Description of Land: This section is situated on the
Makakahi road-line, about one mile from the Hawera Road,
and comprises hilly bush land of good quality. Weighted
with £17 10s. for improvements.

Description of Land: This section is situated in the Wel-
ington Special-settlement Block No. 2, about eight miles
from Eketahuna, and comprises hilly and some flat mixed
bush land of good quality.

Description of Land: This section is situated at the back
of the Eketahuna Native Reserve, on the Mangaoronga road-
line, about three miles from Eketahuna, and comprises
hilly forest land of good quality.

Description of Land: This section is situated in the Wai-
totara District, inland of the Momahaki Gorge, and com-
prises generally hilly land intersected by deep gullies. The
section was originally taken up, and has been slightly im-
proved, and is weighted with £4 18s. for fencing, ploughing,
and grassing.

90 | II. | Kopuaranga | 161 1 8 | £1 10 0

Description of Land: This section is situated north of the
Mauriceville Railway-station, west of the main Forty-mile
Bush Road, and comprises generally hilly mixed bush land of
good quality, with some flat in front. There is a four-
roomed house, 24ft. by 24ft. with a lean-to, on the section.
Four acres are in grass and five acres in addition have been
felled; the section partly fenced, and is weighted with
£116 10s for the improvements.
