Mining Notices.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-RACE.
Westland, 14th January, 1890.
To the Warden at Kumara.
WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct a Water-race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point marked with a post distinguished with the letter C, about 15 chains up the Racecourse Creek from where it crosses the Racecourse, and terminating at a post marked T, in the Kumara Borough Endowment Reserve, No. 203.
The length of such race is 60 chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is from south-west to north-east. The mean depth of such race is 2ft. 6in., and the mean breadth is 3ft. 6in.; and it is proposed to divert twenty Government-heads of water from the Racecourse Creek; three Government-heads from Tributary No. 1, situate 10 chains from the head of the race; five heads from Tributary No. 2, situate about 5 chains down the race from Tributary No. 1; and five Government-heads from Tributary No. 3, situate about 25 chains down the race from Tributary No. 2; all on the east side.
Cost of construction, £200; time required for construction, six months.
