comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—

PUHOI DISTRICT.

All that area in the County of Rodney bounded towards the north generally by the Parishes of Tauhoa and Koura- whereo respectively, from the Parish of Komokoriki to Section No. 47A of the Parish of Ahuroa; thence by that section and Sections Nos. 51, 52, 20, 19, and 18, and by the road which forms the south-western boundary of the said Section No. 18, and by that road continued past the following sections, viz., Nos. 17, 15, and 56, Crown lands, Sections Nos. 73, 76, and 75 of the Parish of Ahuroa aforesaid, Sections Nos. 157, 154, 144, and 143, and through Sections Nos. 108 and 82, all of the Parish of Mahurangi, to Cowan's Bay; thence by the said Cowan's Bay; towards the east generally by Mahurangi Harbour and the sea; towards the south by the Waiwera River to the northern boundary-line of the Parish of Waiwera; thence by that parish; towards the west and again towards the south by the Parish of Makarau; and towards the south-west by the Parish of Komokoriki to the place of commencement.

MAHURANGI DISTRICT.

All that area in the County of Rodney bounded towards the north-east generally by the Waiwhiu Stream, from its confluence with the Hoteo River to the Parish of Matakana; thence by the said parish to the Matakana River; thence by the said Matakana River and Kawau Bay to Mullet Point; thence towards the south-east by the sea to the southern- most point of North Head, at the entrance to Mahurangi Harbour; thence towards the west generally by Mahurangi Harbour; towards the east generally by the said Mahurangi Harbour and Cowan's Bay to the south side of the road which intersects Section No. 82, Parish of Mahurangi; thence towards the south generally by the south side of the said road and the south side of the said road continued through Section No. 108 and past the following sections, viz., Nos. 146, 145, 147, 156, and 153, Parish of Mahurangi aforesaid, and Sections Nos. 72, 65, 64, 13, 14, 16, and 17, all of the Parish of Ahuroa, to the western boundary-line of Section No. 18; thence by the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 18 (aforesaid), 19, and 20, the southern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 52, 51, and 47A, and by the western boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Parish of Kourawhero; thence by the Parish of Ahuroa aforesaid to the Parish of Komokoriki; thence again towards the east by the Parish of Ahuroa aforesaid; thence again towards the south-east by the Parish of Makarau to the Makarau River, and by the said Makarau River to Kaipara Harbour; thence again towards the west generally by the said Kaipara Harbour to the Hoteo River; and thence towards the north-west generally by the said Hoteo River to the Waiwhiu Stream aforesaid, the place of commencement: including Motuhora, Motutara, Moturekareka, Motuketekete, and other adjacent islands, with the exception of the Island of Kawau.

WAIWERA DISTRICT.

All that area in the County of Waitemata bounded towards the north by the Parishes of Makarau and Puhoi respectively and the left bank of the Waiwera River; towards the east, and again towards the north, and towards the south-east generally by the sea to the Okura River; thence by the said Okura River to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 56, Parish of Okura; thence towards the south by a right line to the easternmost corner of the said Section No. 56; thence by that section and Sections Nos. 55, 54, 53, and 52, all of the said Parish of Okura, and the north-east boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced to Section No. 49; thence by the southern boundary-line of that section; towards the north-east, the north-west, and again towards the north-east by the Parish of Okura aforesaid; again towards the south-east by the Parish of Paremoremo; towards the south-west generally by the Parishes of Paremoremo and Ararimu respectively to the south-eastern corner of the eastern portion of Section No. 36, Parish of Pukeatua; thence by the said eastern portion of Section No. 36, by Section No. 38, and the south-western portion of Section No. 39, and by Sections Nos. 30, 31, 32, 33, and 34, Parish of Pukeatua, to the road at the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 306 of the last-mentioned parish; thence again towards the north-west generally by a line along the middle of that road to Section No. 308, Parish of Pukeatua aforesaid; thence by the said Section No. 306 to the Kaukapakapa River; thence again towards the south-west by that river to the Waitoki River; and thence towards the west generally by the Parishes of Kaukapakapa and Makarau respectively: including Tiritiri Island.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the fifteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875,” I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing registration districts known as the Mahurangi and Waiwera Districts; and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three registration districts, the names whereof shall be the Puhoi, Mahurangi, and Waiwera Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith, made under the provisions of “The Marriage Act, 1880.”

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the fifteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Vesting Control of a Road between Kiwitea and Manchester Road Districts, Provincial District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section twenty of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” it is enacted, inter alia, that the Council of any county may, by special order, declare that all or any part of any district road shall, from and after a date to be fixed therein, be under the exclusive control of such local authority within the county as shall be mentioned in such special order, and may, by the same special order, direct that the cost of constructing and maintaining any such road or part of a road shall be borne either by the local authority to which the exclusive control thereof is given, or that a proportion of such cost, to be fixed in and by such special order, shall be borne by any other local authority or local authorities; and that, wherever the operation of “The Counties Act, 1876,” or of any Act repealing or amending the same, is suspended, the Governor shall have and may exercise all the functions vested in a County Council under this section:

And whereas the road described in the Schedule hereto is a district road, and is situated in the County of Oroua, in which county the operation of “The Counties Act, 1886” (an Act repealing “The Counties Act, 1876”), is suspended; and it is desirable that the said road should be placed under the exclusive control of the Kiwitea Road Board:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby order and declare that the road described in the Schedule hereto shall, from and after the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, be under the
