Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, County of Cook.

Wellington, 7th August, 1890.
THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Cook County Council, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”
W. R. RUSSELL.
At a poll of the ratepayers of the Waikohu and Ormond Road Districts, taken on the 10th July, 1890, upon a proposal of this Council to raise a loan of £4,500 for the purpose of erecting the Kaiteratahi Bridge, the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 72 voters, exercising 126 votes; against the proposal, 8 voters, exercising 16 votes. Total numbers on the roll, 126 voters, capable of exercising 242 votes.
As a majority of persons recorded a majority of votes in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land required for the Use of a Public Work (Terrace Gaol, Wellington).
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” to take the land described in the Schedule hereto, required for the use of a public work; and notice is further given that the plan of the said land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office, Wellington, and is there open for inspection. And notice is hereby given that all persons affected by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

WIDE BAY BAR, NORTH CHANNEL.
NOTICE is hereby given that the North Channel, Wide Bay Bar, is closed, and after the 14th July the beacons will be removed.
A new channel has opened out, which will be beaconed and lit up as soon as possible, of which due notice will be given.

LIGHTHOUSE AT MAATSUYKER ISLES, ON SOUTH COAST, TASMANIA.
NOTICE is hereby given that a lighthouse now in the course of erection at the S.W. Maatsuyker Isle, south coast of Tasmania, in lat. 43° 39′ S., long. 146° 18′ E., approximate, will be ready for exhibition on or about the 1st April, 1891.
The light will be of the first order, dioptric group, double-flashing light, and placed 360ft. above sea-level.
Due notice and full particulars will be given of the exact date when this light will be exhibited.

ROCKY PATCH, ENTRANCE TO BLUFF HARBOUR.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 6th August, 1890.
THE Bluff Harbour Board notify that a small rocky patch, 33ft. long, in a N.W. and S.E. direction, having only 19ft. 6in. water on it at low-water springs, has been discovered in the entrance to the Bluff Harbour. It lies with the southern extremity of Tewaewae Rock bearing E. by N. ¼ N., and the black line of the eastern extremity of Starling Point S. by E. ¼ E. This position places the danger only 120ft. south-westward of the line of the fairway beacons on the Middle Banks. Bearings are magnetic.
