As a majority of ratepayers, exercising a majority of votes,
voted in favour, I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.

W. M. KEBBELL,

Alfredton, 8th July, 1890.

Notice to Mariners, No. 23 of 1890.

NELSON HARBOUR LIGHTS.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 18th July, 1890.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners, No. 25 of 1889,
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th of
October last, notice is hereby given that the lights shown
from the Nelson Railway Wharf during the time the wharf-
extension works were being carried out have been discon-
tinued, as the extension has been completed, and that the
only light now shown is the red light on the south-west end
of the goods-shed on the wharf.

THOS. FERGUS,
(For the Minister having charge of the
Marine Department.)

Notice to Mariners, No. 24 of 1890.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 22nd July, 1890.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Auckland Harbour Board, is published for general in-
formation.

THOS. FERGUS,
(For the Minister having charge of the
Marine Department.)

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.

NOTICE is hereby given of the existence of two small rocky
patches at the entrance to Haurangi (Drunken) Bay
(between Rangitoto and Motu Tapu Islands), where dol-
phins are erected for compass adjustment.

These rocks lie in an easterly direction, one about two-
thirds and the other one and a half cable's length respec-
tively from the Rangitoto shore, the inner patch having
from 6ft. to 9ft. of water over it, and the outer one from 9ft.
to 12ft. at low-water spring-tides. The outer patch is
marked by a black buoy on its eastern side, and lies in the
following position, viz.: Peak of Rangitoto, W.; S.E. point
of Tapu Island, E.N.E. (magnetic).

NOTE.—Large vessels entering Haurangi (Drunken) Bay
should not pass inshore (westward) of the buoy, and should
give the buoy a berth of about one cable's length in passing
eastward of it.

Notice is also given that the warping buoy, hitherto
moved N.W. of Queen Street Wharf, has been removed, and
will not be replaced.

J. M. BRIGHAM,
Secretary and Treasurer,
Auckland Harbour Board.

Harbour Board Office,
Auckland, 16th July, 1890.

Notice to Mariners, No. 25 of 1890.

LEADING BEACONS, SOUTH CHANNEL, ENTRANCE TO
MANUKAU HARBOUR.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 23rd July, 1890.

NOTICE is hereby given that, owing to the extensive
changes in the South Channel entrance to Manukau
Harbour, where the Tranmere and Treachery Shoals overlap,
the beacons on the South Head, when in line, lead over
the northern end of Treachery Shoal, on which there is only
9ft. of water at low-water springs. Vessels on entering will
therefore now be directed, by means of the semaphore-arm,
to enter between the inner shoals, where there is a depth of
2½ fathoms.

THOS. FERGUS,
(For the Minister having charge of the
Marine Department.)

Notice to Mariners, No. 26 of 1890.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 23rd July, 1890.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Portmaster, Brisbane, Queensland, is published for
general information.

THOS. FERGUS,
(For the Minister having charge of the
Marine Department.)

WIDE BAY BAR, NORTH CHANNEL.

IN consequence of the filling-up and constant changes in
the North Channel, Wide Bay Bar, notice is hereby given
that, on and after the 5th instant, the lights leading through
the same will be discontinued, as it is considered prudent
that such channel should be navigated only with daylight,
and then with extreme caution.
